This model assumes one person owns the vehicle for the entire vehicles life. In reality, someone buys an EV new, drives until the battery is worn out, and trades it in. Now the price of used cars just went up $6k across the board because yo

Engines and transmissions last 15+ years, easily 20+ with regular maintenance. Everything else you mentioned is cheap and easy to replace. Yes, other than the battery, EVs are very low maintenance. But that doesn't matter at all to low

Do you feel the same about +-/*% ? I think people say this because they rarely use bitwise operators, and so are scared of them.

I mean the actual tech than enables financial markets (fintech) - high frequency trading, matching engines, market data, order execution, etc.

I think you're misunderstanding. The problem is that payment processors will not do business with "unsavory" customers. It's not about curation or moderation, it's that any porn-adjacent business is locked out of th

I think we will definitely see a content explosion. The pessimist in me says that general levels of creativity and quality will go down, if anything. It's AI written blogspam, but for images and video too. The signal to noise ratio i

Yeah, definitely. There's a self selection bias where a person who wants to stream is going to tend to be a person who wants to show their face. But it is not weird / frowned upon if there is no face and the content itself (gaming

It's perfectly normal to stream and not show your face at all. Preferring to present as an anime character will always be niche.

Worth noting that in the Mazda case, unlocking Android auto in the 2014-2018 cars is a paid upgrade you can do at the dealer. So, the incentives there are a lot clearer.

Again, I don't think people would have as much of an issue if it was clearly about deprecation. Something like Google's minimum sdk version is annoying, but understandable. It's technical and concrete - you must link against

If they have specific libraries or APIs that they wanted to deprecate, I think developers would understand that. But the current implementation of "anything 2 years old is too old" is arbitrary. If this was really about deprecatio

So you believe Google made more than $4B with their Android licensing practices in the EU? I think that is unlikely, and I think it is likely we will see Google change the illegal licensing. I am more than happy to see a Google exec get cha

The world is not a child's cartoon. It can be simultaneously true that Google is a scummy monopolist and the EU is not acting in good faith.

Its an issue with bundling. If a phone manufacturer wants to ship an Android phone with Google Play Store (and they all do), then they must also include a bunch of other Google stuff. The EU wants Google to license the Play Store but not

In some places in the US, if you commit a felony 3 times, you go to jail for life. Usually it has to be a violent felony, but every state is different. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-strikes_law
