I use Jetbrains and there is at least full coverage for MSSQL in my experience, which is a huge dialect -- not only syntax highlighting but full IDE features like autocompletion and target name refactoring etc. And 10 other dialects are lis

Why do you not make that argument for "if" and "else" in Go/Java/...? Editors highlight syntax.

Sort of related in this space I'd like to plug a related tool "sqlcode" that is a different approach to how to deploy stored procedures. Could be a nice partner to sqlc I think. Focused on mssql support so far though, and sti

Yes, using unpoly, I conclused the way updates work in unpoly to be easier to work with, less need for lots of special endpoints for every kind of interaction than in htmx. But haven't really tried htmx much.

Not really disagreeing with you, but "staying up for months" isn't a serious bar to clear, it really provides no information in 2024 everything you can install should clear that bar.

I cannot zoom this page on mobile, very annoying...what is causing it? Anyway seems like a poor recommendation assuming the page is practicing what it is preaching here.

You say win-win but what is the win of having a seperate internal ID specifically? It is possible to do as you say ofc but what is the advantage?

That sounds a bit theoretical in this context, I am sure auto makers would love to save the costs of external speakers, so the incentive is there to drop them if the sounds were not mandated.

Research / development project? The karma system in a community that downvotes AI comments provides quite good (and free) feedback about whether comments are perceived to be written by an AI, or not..

When CMB anisotropies are studied, one question is to see the the universe is isotropic or anisotropic -- these are two different uses of the word isotropic, on completely different scales. The current prevailing science is saying that the

For systems with many services that need 99.9..% uptime, the ways to do ANY change is things like expand-contract. In most such cases you have several instances of your backend running in parallel for scaling and redundancy and when making

Something I have done for secrets is use a syntax in environment variables to tell the process to go a key vault for the secret. So we can have FOOPW=pw1 when testing locally, but FOOPW="{vault1:secret1}" in production. Env vars a

Do NOT do that with MS-SQL. The uniqueidentifier type shuffles byes around and does not give you the ordering you want. So whether you use ULID or UUIDv7, save it as binary(16) in MSSQL. (There is a special custom UUID implementation someon

I don't understand the idea ... do you mean a middleware that parse the SQL query and contains a query planner and has full knowledge of all the indices in the database .. or something else?

Note that I am ONLY talking about a mode to use for limited, trivial OLTP style queries. The kind where the query planner will never be in doubt -- if you just have the right indices in place. The kind of simple backend software queries whe

What I had in mind was the simple OLTP usecases. To compete with NoSQL in developer ergonomics. My context is people choosing NoSQL because SQL is too hard to learn and has too many caveats; not because of performance etc So basically a mod

What popular SQL databases need is an option/hint to return an error instead of taking a slow query plan. That way a lot of SQL index creation -- something considered a black art by surprisingly many -- would just be prompted by test s
