If you do this, who will develop a vaccine and more importantly TEST it at all? Private corporations won't, governments would have too and governments would develop in private, evaluate in private and give it to their own citizens, vac

What do you replace the luck with? We already elect governments and they already have immense resources, more resources than even the richest individuals. So replacing "luck" with democratic election probably just ends up with mor

If that's the case I'm kinda confused why trading platforms keep banning trades in these particular meme stocks?

Having suffered recently from randomly waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get to sleep again I found 2mg time release melatonin the way to go. If you do wake up it's much much easier to fall back to sleep again.

Speed was the most important thing? Teaming up with a large drug company was the fastest way to determine if the drug was safe, effective and get it manufactured.

I dunno, what really do you need to do other than have your pictures uploaded and displayed on the post? I kinda figure that's all 90% of the userbase actually wants from the feature?

Large subs like your r/canada example can and do split. r/unitedkingdom has basically been replaced by r/casualuk in size because a substantial part of its userbase was tired of its constant misery and moaning.

You used to be able to get gsuite for free with your own personal domain. A lot of people, especially on HN are probably still grandfathered in on that for the free tier. Nowadays I think you have to pay for using a custom domain.

In the case of Parler, it turned out that yes, the calls to violence were real and not jokes. You might say all these platforms previously gave Parler the benefit of the doubt and then were faced with incontrovertible evidence that Parler w

I think what we had in the last 6 or so years was actually a lot worse than some "darknet chat platform", because honestly the equivalent of that in terms of usenet/forums has always existed. What we had more recently was a k

Well I'd go check but the site seems to be down. Perhaps "nasty" is the wrong word, although I do think there's an element of that. More "delusional"? That is, so divorced from what I perceive as reality that a

There seems to be a poll floating around that 45% of republicans supported the storming of capitol hill. Of course polls can be twisted to deceive, but if we take that at face value, that is not a small "fringe"?

News is basically a cheap form of entertainment nowadays. The clue really is in the name, it's just "new stuff" and humans seem hardwired to always want to be consuming "new stuff".

I don't believe there's any mechanism to go from full EU membership to the EEA when you're already a member? That is more or less the same thing as negotiating to leave before article 50 is invoked. I'm not entirely sur

The EU doesn't allow negotiation on withdrawal until article 50 is invoked. There was no ability to negotiate any deal of any kind until the UK confirmed it was leaving.

What is there to learn? 1) Act immediately and aggressively at the first sign of potential virus. 2) Get your population used to wearing masks when ill with cold like viruses and thus ensure sufficient supplies and willingness to wear masks
