Creating a social obligation to respond in many cases = more usage of the service.

I fully agree with this. It reduces the quality of interaction from both ends: From the receiver's end: Like this post says, it creates a sense of urgency as the sender now knows that it's been seen. It also puts the receiver in a tough sit

Neat. Reminds me of the favicon tetris. This could be very useful for an in-tab "progress bar".

Thanks for the idea. By the way, have you heard of my new product, Sue Ville?

My comment was mainly in the context of the parent comment's implied contradiction between our apparent siding with EA here, but our siding with Android in Apple v. Android.

It's similar, but has one fundamental difference. The Apple vs. Android holy war spans many different devices, user interfaces, brands, packaging methods, and advertisements. Some Android phones copy the iPhone/iOS more than others. For exa

They're suing for The Sims Social, not The Sims. In all honesty, I think the title should be edited to read 'The Sims Social' instead of 'The Sims'. They're very different games.

It's not the genre that was copied, it was the exact behavior and appearance of the game. Read this, or at least view the comparison images: http://www.scribd.com/doc/101954002/EA-v-Zynga-Complaint-Fin...

What does The Ville do that The Sims doesn't? Where are the aesthetics drastically different? Where do the two games behave differently. The Ville has identical behavior to The Sims Social, and strikingly similar artwork.

Here's the trailer for The Ville: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXX6XvGBj4w It definitely has a 'Sims' vibe to it.

Another reason for doing this is motion. If the images themselves have double-pixels, then the game can still render moved/rotated images within the device's pixels and not the image's pixels. So scaling up your canvas makes development eas

My dad and I ordered black Pebbles, and we fully intend to use them. When I see people wearing a watch, it's usually [fashion.] Yeah, that's because smart watches haven't caught on yet. There was a time when people only put earrings

I just checked out your drawbang. It's pretty neat! http://i.imgur.com/IeiQB.gif You should add some tooltips on the buttons though, as some of them aren't immediately all that clear.

Sadly not, as its "timer" is actually just setting an alarm for x minutes later. That also means that you lose precision of seconds. If it's 5:22:36 and you tell it to set a timer for 10 minutes, it'll set an alarm for 5:32:00, not 5:32:36.

Darn. Yep, I can't figure out how to fix the bug causing that. I went to sleep hoping that it would in fact not be bugged and return to near-zero by the time I woke up, and now I can see that the bug is still very much there. Hmm.
