The flexibility of a graphdb translates to flexibility in writing your queries. And that's my main problem with graphdb. Query optimizations can be difficult. It is very easy to write a query that logically does what you want, but take

I have a phd and have postdoc'ed at a couple of places also. I am now in industry. Sure, there are boring bits. But I think what he is more looking for is being able to explore the space and more open-endedness to projects, which I do

Hiring is a lot of the times more about finding someone that'll fit in your current team than about an individual with a lot of skill/enthusiasm. You don't sound very reliable and that would be my main concern. Even if you we

There are a lot of numerical structures missing from this. Not sure if you can really advertise it as for data science without some kind of dataframe structure.

Thanks for the response. I think protocol-bias is something that will be hard to control for. The collection kit, extraction method, library prep method can influence the results significantly from my experience. For example, we've see

Are you guys depleting host or enriching microbial? Are you analyzing the data as a composition via log contrasts? Are you using available pipelines (kraken, metaphlan, etc) or something custom? Any plans on doing a functional pathway analy

I have mixed feelings about at home allergy testing. I know that various clinical labs may have their own reference ranges for IgE/*. Combined that with a low amount of blood collected and sampling exposure time, the data would seem ve

There are a lot of good work digging into the mechanism of how it causes cardiac fibrosis in rats. I don't think we should completely dismiss it just because it is in a non-human model. If anything, this study allows us to try to use t

We've sequenced a lot of RNA in the past decade. A lot of that were extracted from neurons. I don't think we've seen evidence of this memory storing function through sequencing.

I am not an expert obviously. But is this generally true in most situations? It just seems like maybe in this specific once-in-a-lifetime situation, maybe this doesn't apply? The decision to freeze all trades seems more "neutral&q

So the argument is that if they just froze trades (both buying and selling), then people who own many GME shares and want to sell would not be able to and there would be a subsequent backlash? Maybe? I am trying to compare the lesser of two

They could have just completely frozen trades of these volatile stocks then? Instead, they only blocked out buying these stocks and still allowed selling. Did they not really think through the implications of this action?

If you want CLIA lab certification, there are a number of rules surrounding cross contamination, which not sealing a plate of samples properly might be a red flag.

I want to point out that it really depends a lot on what kind of lab it is. I think for R&D, buying cheap stuff off of ebay or labx is great. But if your goal is to eventually scale up and build a production lab, you will need to switch

Desiccation is an interesting approach. I don't see it as being used for every step of a reaction though? It would take too long to wait for desiccation between every step? And depending on the buffers you are using, you might be incre

This is something that's extremely annoying to deal with in a genomics context. Various formats in the field uses 0-based or 1-based and inclusive or exclusive.

I think one of the guys who founded Moderna originally wanted to inject mRNA to induce pluripotent stem cells. It would be great if that can somehow work for this. Instead of using an adenovirus to insert the genes, we can inject mRNA to in

There is a big difference in definition depending on what part of the term "epigenetics" you emphasize. Emphasizing "epi" means you are looking at architecture/mechanistic of chromatin and how they affect function.
