I’ve never looked at NTP so I followed a link here to RFC 1305. I found this gem of humility. > Note that since some time in 1968 the most significant bit (bit 0 of the integer part) has been set and that the 64-bit field will overflow

Good point. My comment was mostly about “essentials”. If your “essentials” includes Asian or south-Asian essentials then we have those too and love going there almost as an excursion. And those stores are also small, to the OP.

We’ve got a costco and an Aldi in the same parking lot. Between the two we rarely have to go elsewhere. To the point of the OP, I think Aldi by itself is bringing down the average size of stores. Great European quality stuff at ridiculously

This seems to be in roughly the same space as the radius project[1] out of Microsoft. They are a data structure rather than a language, but the idea of merging the application and infrastructure seems similar. Is there a place for one appl

Here,s a deep, deep dive into AGC rope memory. My mental model was stuck on core memory until I saw this and finally got the difference. Tl;dr Way higher information density. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hckwxq8rnr0

Obligatory shoutout to curiousmarc and Mike Stewart. I’m stunned by the amount of work that have put into making this national treasure (partly) operational again [0] https://www.curiousmarc.com/space/apollo-guidance-c

A long time ago I worked at a company trying to commercialize a visual programming framework for general use. And before that I was on a team that built a visual programming environment to define simulation models for the largest flight

If you crashed trying to ensure your antenna was optimally oriented then you chose “communicate” over “aviate”. It’s a stretch, but the point is to clearly define your priorities and stick to them, even in a panic

Thanks for this. I didn’t know there was a name for this technique. If you listened to RFK jr on Lex recently you heard many many examples. And also Trump. I’ve only heard it described as “flood the zone with shit”, which is a reference to

Philosophize This! podcast did a 4 parter on Simone Weil earlier this year. Stephen West does easily accessible introductions to philosophy. He started 10 years ago with the pre-socratics. Quite a ride. https://www.philosophizeth

This is an entry into the application AuthZ world. The space is in need of a general approach to get away from ad hoc solutions in every application or in the IDP. Cedar falls somewhere between OPA with its datalog (prolog) based search app

The software is good, but your point is about the flight model. The flight model is all about tuning. That was not my area but I watched it being done. It started with curves from the flight testing program and then many hours of trial and
