The thing that’s always missing from videos like this is how much prompting or manual editing it took. It’s always implied that it was a one-shot, when it almost certainly was not.

It doesn’t have to be this way. You can use AI in ways that don’t rot your brain. You can delegate easy tasks to the AI to save time, while saving the harder tasks for yourself. Or you can treat it more as a mentor / tutor and have it

AWS isn’t the best fit for everyone. But sometimes you don’t realize that until later down the line (or your business or the industry changes), at which point you’re locked in due to the many customer-hostile tactics they use to lock you in

Just rolled out a big new update for my video cloud platform https://www.kollaborate.tv with a new player, side-by-side playback comparison and a big improvement in accessibility. Currently we’re using AWS and Backblaze B2, but

This is probably the most dystopian AI product I’ve seen. At first I thought it was a parody but it appears to be genuine. If your partner actually uses this, be glad you’re no longer in a relationship with them.

I feel like this experiment was successful because those prompting the AI were knowledgeable enough to ask the right questions and verify the output was correct. This shows that there is still a place for expertise, even if the LLM does the

The impression I get from conversations with non-technical people is that they associate data centers with AI and all the associated controversies and negative externalities that come with that. They do not realize that there are non-AI use

This is really a two-for-one for the AI companies: they lock up the hardware market for their growth while also making sure no-one can buy hardware to host models locally.

I think that AI can have value if used correctly, but there is a long list of negative externalities that we are not prepared for as a society. We need to pass laws or establish norms to mitigate as many of those as possible, but I doubt th
