As mentionned by two other people in the comments, this is spreading false propaganda against AGPL which only serves the interest of internet-based companies that want to benefit from FOSS code without having to share their own creations[1]

Github does that and it always makes it very difficult to understand when something was actually done/committed.

Awesome project! Where is the realtime/live data coming from? Is it approximated via timetables or is something else going on?

Medium.com articles are now mostly behind paywalls and I tried loading the URL via the web.archive.org but it keeps being redirected and impossible to view. I wonder if this was a cleverly hidden way to obsolete the archiving of such web pa

Facebook deserves credit for its systematic and consistent complete disregard of user privacy; for deflecting responsibility and pointing fingers at governments and legislation that prevent it from doing whatever it wants; and for pitting u

This reminds me of the "embrace, extend, extinguish" strategies Microsoft used extensively with Linux and open source software in the 90s. From [1]: "a phrase that the U.S. Department of Justice found that was used internally

I recommend having a look at Macpine [1] which allows you to run lightweight alpine VMs on MacOS with easy port forwarding, file sharing; you can also easily run docker inside of it and use docker context to target it. [1] https:/

His writing is subtle and nuanced which is ironically probably why it lacks what you appear to be seeking, the "cliff notes", ai-summarized version of the article.

I think your comment was valuable in that it suggested the work being done on antitrust by Lina Khan. For those who are interested, I would also recommend reading the excellent Matt Stoller on Substack [1] who does a weekly analysis on anti

As mentioned in the other comments, the multi account container extension is more generic and is also one of the reasons I prefer to use Firefox. Chrome is unlikely to reproduce the feature anytime soon.

I just spent 5min looking for usage of the word "heaviosity", which appealingly sounds and seems likes a real word, but in fact doesn't seem to be one. Perhaps the author used a seemingly deep, but incorrect, word as a way to

Except you can never trust Facebook to care for user's metadata in a privacy-preserving way, which, to me at least, seems like a security risk. While the actual messages are encrypted, everything else (i.e the metadata such as your co

I find that substack has a lot of good authors on the topics that are relevant/interesting to me (e.g. economics). You can search here [1] to discover authors. If you find an author on substack interesting, you can then see a list of t

The author's behavior is, to some extent, an attempt at anti-conformity by traveling in a way that he believes most people don't do (i.e. by staying close to locals, staying longer than a few days, avoiding popular places to exper

I assume the author means "no [system-level] external dependencies except Python 3.10+ [in order to install the software]". Python then installs the required application-level dependencies.

A meme is necessarily a joke but a joke is not necessarily a meme. A meme often, but not always, has a visual component to it. A meme is a cultural phenomenon. It is shared virally and evolves in the process. EDIT: After reading the Wikiped

The point of the article is that it isn't clear and that it seems like the company has been caught red-handed in the past. What should anyone believe the company in the first place? It implies that it should be looked into more thoroug

You're right. And the implicit thesis is not even clear. It also doesn't consider alternative decentralized currencies/networks to support why Bitcoin would be better. This reads like a lobby piece.

The author seems to argue that the Bitcoin hard cap (i.e. the 21M limit) is as inalienable as a law of nature. But it's not. Even if it's in the code itself, it's made by humans who can build consensus around a change in the
