If they try to take me away from my compiler and my code to do irrelevant stuff I'm just going to quit.

Just wanted to apologize for the shallow dismissal and the snark. This is going to generate cash flows so the associated activities are totally legit and not parasitic and a waste of oxygen. My gut reaction was not civilized.

I just take some kitchen paper and one of these small thin plastic bags to clean up after my own dog's shit. No need to pay for a service.

You'll have to decide this for yourself. For me it's good enough. I had a 200 GB FLAC collection many years ago. I can't tell the difference and I don't care to try.

Arch + i3 is what I used until a couple years ago, then decided to move to Wayland, and Sway was buggy on my system so I went vanilla Gnome. It does all I need and also I get to have my settings in a simple script file which is just a bunch

I have never used Spotify so I have no opinion on it, but have you tried YouTube Premium / Music? You can find all the music plus other types of good stuff you might like.

I'm not a fan of the language but QtQuick & QML is what I'd use for this type of widgets. OTOH I am starting two projects at work, one being a traditional desktop app and another being an HMI with lots of functionality, and de

Great. But you can do anything you want by generating code. Why not have a standard solution instead of everyone doing their own, possibly buggy thing complicating their build process even more?

I am in a work environment where I actually get to do hard shit for fun, learn a ton, and also "get stuff done" and my employer is happy. For some of the stuff that has been done already, it might still make sense to do your own i

In a scenario where a programmer has to do this for work and might naively think that date handling is simple, the title is invaluable advice. It is one of those things that can cause real trouble. OTOH writing, e.g., your own renderer coul

Based on these graphs and the differences in outcomes they show, you are not talking about "alert vs less alert" nurses but about "nurses doing their job vs nurses basically slowly killing dozens of patients".

Rust 0.1, the first public release, came out in January 2012. CFront 1.0, the first commercial release, came out in 1985. The public existence of Rust is 13 years, during which computing has not changed that much to be honest. Now compare t
