Just to make it clear, I did read the whole thread in the mailing list before writing the above comment.

I do not see the phrase "abrassive asshole" or something similar in the open letter though. I see "misogynist", "transphobe", "ableist". He is clearly not any of these things, so the open letter is in

The links provided are nice but I will leave a comment here in case it is useful. If I measure the temporal (dt) and spatial (dx) distance between two events A and B, then I can calculate what another observer would measure (dt' and dx

The separate space and time interval measurements between two events can vary among observers, but they will all measure the same spacetime interval, which in turn determines whether light is "fast enough".

To anyone looking for a good introductory book, I wholeheartedly recommend Harold Simmon's "An Introduction to Category Theory". The writing is very clear and fun with lots of good examples and exercises.

Did you try more than one viewer? It renders fine in Evince and in Vivaldi here. The 'bodies' of the pages are not regular text but images over that background gradient, by the way.

For me the issue now is not whether Stallman should hold 'leadership' positions or not, it's the fact that the pursuit of his removal from all such positions is based on heavy accusations which I do not believe to be true (tr

The point is that if you put the experimentally measured distance, masses, and force into Newton's inverse square law in a regime where it does not actually hold, you will get a different G and this is how you will know that modificati

Maybe these people (I am one of them) just do not have a reason to object to a consensual procedure that could save or drastically improve lives, and that's it?

Complementarily, I would say that because of corporate greed (or corporate behavior / politics more generally), it will be a long time before we can use computers built on the principles Alan Kay outlined in his talk.

Seriously, this video made my day and I am searching for more. I basically think of it as a "how computing stacks should be" talk. Also just launched GNU Smalltalk on the side and looking for a good tutorial, by the way.

I have studied some QM and I agree. I see the MWI as figuring things out with just what the Schroedinger equation tells you. Apparently this has become easier to swallow after all the research that has gone into QM during the past century.
