Yeah, same. Left an awesome job to do my own thing after getting seed funding. For the first few months of doing that, I told myself that I could never go back to the 9-5 grind. I am now very excited to go back to the 9-5 grind.

I think side projects, software at least, are a lot like the Civilization games. You can't wait to start. The first 10% is awesome. 10-40% is complex and the difficulty ramps up. 40-100%, all you can think about is starting over on som

Vue doesn't have quite the same dev experience w/ TypeScript as React. If I were just using ES6, I think it would be a toss-up or Vue would win. With TypeScript, React + TSX wins by a lot. That said, things may have improved with

A reality that doesn't seem to get discussed much is that non-FAANG companies in Bay Area don't actually pay that much . If your option is Austin post-IPO or Google, then okay. If your option is Austin post-IPO or Series A Startu

I don't know where you moved, but this is pretty condescending. The idea that there are just a bunch of small-pond professionals in places like Austin/Atlanta/Raleigh is just...not accurate. A ton of the folks I've worke

I think you and the other replies here either 1) assumed too much about what I was saying or 2) made some mental shortcuts because you've had this conversation before. I'm not making an argument against taxation here. Ostensibly,

If you want to do the most with your apparently surplus income, look into effective altruism. Your dollar will go a lot further with <take your pick of 1,000 charitable organizations> than it will after going through 10 layers of bure

Mostly marketing/copywriting types and designers. Some programmers, although that seems to be rarer - could have something to do with what personalities are drawn to these professions.

Great article that really highlights the negative aspects of Digital Nomadism. I work with some folks that do this, and when we talk about it, they can't understand why I would want to just stay in my medium-sized city and travel a few

Running a node on a phone sounds like a horrible idea. Why would this be desirable? This is a solved problem and I never understand why people keep going back to it. Host a node or use a public node. Use a local wallet to do signing and dep

Solidity as a language is not that bad. It wouldn't be my first choice but it wouldn't be my last. Most of the challenges are not at the language level, they're at the EVM level. Any languages on top of the EVM are hamstrung

Pure psis are, but no one plays pure psis - usually you combo it with shifter, warrior, or some other fighting class. Drain mana alone makes psi worth taking in a multi-class.
