Time of "Getting that shit done" and cost of long-term maintenance are two of the main reasons why people use Ruby/Python, not for the raw performance. I thought that was an old debate. And anyway, from my experience, Python has never been

*Started using tmux, then realized for my needs stumpwm was better. Obviously these are two different beasts. I still often use tmux on remote server for instance. However, if you use tmux locally, then a tiling manager might be better.

I started using tmux.. then switched to stumpwm which is too awesome to explain here. Embrace the full power of emacs and your Window Manager.

I know as tech people we're strong about using latest technologies and we like to think users are like us, but sadly, this is not the case. Actually, it really depends of your market. "the web is no longer just text" Although I can't deny t

I know everyone hates that question.. (I hate it too), but what about non-js users or, maybe more importantly, SEO or crawlers? Honestly, this is what is holding me back to go pure client-side for most of my projects.. I know there's the ph

Bha, I still believe that's a mistake. Breaking already existing and working tools for the sake of having python3. Thousands of scripts use "python" as default, instead of "python2". They will all break. The problem isn't when it's your own

Only thing I've found that worked for me was emails. Whatever app I want to use, I'll still get 100+ emails everyday. When I don't have that much thing to do, cool todo apps are great.. but anytime there's a real "get shit done urgently" I

There are different levels of "captcha". Some bots just fill any forms on any sites with their spam.. a simple client-side question goes a long way to mitigate this. It obviously is a very different story if it's a script created especially

First thing I thought while reading this kickstarter was "Why re-invent South.. it's already perfect!". I changed my mind when I understood who the author was. To be honest, I don't fully understand why the new version is needed.. we should

For the 0.1% case where he actually would have needed math, he got away with it and just asked a friend. Nothing wrong in focusing on the 90% of the 90/10 and asking for help if you're in that 10% part.
