> Young children can acquire absolute (perfect) pitch — but adults cannot. The window closes around age 6. What? That doesn’t sound true at all. Jude Kofie started the piano at the age of 8. But music prodigy apart, I defintely don’t hav

A CORS protected endpoint tells YOUR BROWSER not to let YOU access its content if the website you’re browsing from is not whitelisted. It’s confusing because unlike most security features, it’s meant to protect the users from themselves. Th

Idk about that particular company but the benefit of cheating may be much higher than the 1.8m fine they got. I personally never specifically consent to anything, yet get a ton of marketing emails. To most companies that send me those email

2 things: 1. Like everything, apts degrade over time, maintenance usually happens in spikes, so the state of the place goes down until someone pays for the new paint job 2. It depends on the market, in highly attractive places, owners don&#

It’s the GPUs, not the weights that are the key. As long as these models require a lot of computing power, the best models open source or not will be served by corporations who can afford the infra.

The benchmark is not everything, the LLMs have their “personality” and GPT is annoying AF. Also, I don’t about others, but I personally strongly dislike OpenAI’s leadership’s hypocrisy. I find them losing the race highly satisfying.

I'm not one to fetishicize the past, but to be honest there has been quite a bad turn lately. COVID, Trump's second election, Musk turning into the Bond villain he was cut out to be, Altman's good guy mask melting down slowly

tbh, it makes it even sadder. It means the entire economy runs on borrowing to fuel growth. When all that cash is still coming fron QE, it’s gross.

The strong job numbers too. On a side note, I find it very sad that strong job numbers make stock plummet. It really is an indication that the stock market is mostly speculative and not concerned about the actual economy.

0.8% is substantial indeed, but if i understand correctly, it’s 0.8% on that one stock, so much less on the index itself. Those funds that perform better probably take a higher management fee that might cancel out the gain. May be worth it

It’s important to note that index funds will eventually get in, so it’s not like 401k will never be holding these stocks. It would be silly to assume that the stock is going to tank that much on day 1, on the asumption that there are not en

Sure, the problem is trust. Regular people want to invest so they can make money and companies want people to invest so that they can raise money. So pretty much everybody wants the 401k money to be invested in the stock market. But the iss

People can surely sue the index publishers for removing the safeguards, or the index funds to take more risks than they were mandated. When money is lost in the order of billions, someone is getting sued.
