Keep looking for excuses, you'll find them. I mean that in a firmly supportive way. I'm not suggesting every deal can find a team. If it was already cashflowing and has assets, it is much easier to put a deal together. Software st

Why? Means little. You can put a $44k deal together, even if you're a college student with no connections. It takes vision, some hustle, and an action plan. You might not think you can, but I sure know many can (including you and other

I agree with you and this fits enough people. Many (myself included) thrive off constant action and change, steep risk and learning curves. I started in management consulting - and even after doing startups for years - find startups too min

Examples like this are why I like HN as a community of "engineer and similar minded people". We pick up details like this and call them out.

I read this more as it can be easier to move from really dire straits 3rd world country to middle class America. Whereas it can be harder to go from middle class America to Upper class. 3rd World -> Middle Class America takes hard work (

Of course! My brain works better when highly stimulated inbound, bc coding is rather monotonous to me. I'd use bits of quiet to plan what I was doing - then lots of external stimuli to help me get through the many boring parts of imple

I agree - but also technical isn't important at that phase, business value is. And often technical architecture needs change as product fit, market fit change.

I like to think of it as - pioneers build the base enough to prove some part of product, market, or technology so there is later revenue for the engineers to have a job. I've heard tons of engineers teams whine about technical debt - w

I disagree - a bit. There is often a blue ocean that can be created in the industry or around it, and usually pioneers are part of a small group to see it first.

Possibly for very technical products, an engineer could be more impactful than a PM - since engineers could be their customer. In most all other regards, I can't fathom how a proper engineer makes a better PM. I would suggest either: y
