That covers me. I never land in the Times except via a link from somewhere. I never go there directly. Once or twice in the last year, I've hit the ten-article limit. One of those times, I actually cleaned out the cookies.

I wonder if it would be quicker for getHash() to check for object (including functions) first, then for string, then let the rest come as they are, more or less: var objectId = 1000000; function getHash2(value) { if (type

It's funny as hell. And the last remark in the dialog makes it clear the intended audience is sloppy developers, not non-techies. Although brighter non-techies would probably get it after a little thought.

A standard example I used to cite to illustrate the difference brought about by safe-search was an image search for 'facial'. With safe search off, that filled the screen with NSFW results. I just tried again, and the results were squeaky c

Having indentation inform syntax is a good thing, as demonstrated by the likes of Python and YAML. But meaningful trailing white space (see the multiline string example)? I don't think so ...

The article claims the 60 kwh model goes one mile on 0.35 kwh. So, at USD$0.16662/kwh (didn't know the currencies were that close), it costs $0.058317 to go a mile. If gas is $3.35/gal, then you need to be getting 57.4 mpg to be even. Howev

For the 60 kwh model, 60 kwh would go 171 miles, so that's 1.75¢ per mile. (Although Tesla claims a range of 300 miles at 55 mph.) I didn't know off-peak rates were so cheap.

The article claims 38 kwh to go 100 miles for the 85 kwh model. So, if a kwh is a dime, that's 3.8¢ per mile. The 85 kwh model does 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds. How many miles per gallon would a comparable gasoline powered street rocket get? May
