You put cashless toll points above the roads. Cameras capture the license plates for those without toll passes. They can go online and pay within a few days or get fined. Not a new concept.

That's not an unintended consequence. Why do you think poor people need to drive into Manhattan?

It's true. ER doctor which is just a small step above GP can earn 500k plus in Wyoming or similar. These communities should be allowed to import physicians from other countries and pay them 150k instead. This is sheer lunacy. If those

The intellectual level of understanding the concepts behind all of this is basically a generation behind the rest of the oecd in America due to lack of experience and lack of curiosity about other countries. This goes both ways. Many people

Relax. Why do you expect a bunch of escalator mechanics to be on standby, readily available for a once in a generation escalator repair project? That's not how things work.

Don't think that's it. Even Brisbane (Queensland) electrified its suburban rail in the late 1970s.

Doesn't matter what people are asking. Ok I just listed my one bedroom apt in Duluth for $55 million. Is the Duluth housing market now crazy?

Try east coast US to APAC just to make a personnel change and fly back (24-48hr turnaround). It's an American thing mostly. It's absurd. I think a lot of people at those levels just want to avoid their families. And the businesses

Airbnbs are incredibly overpriced for what you get. They remind me of food trucks. Everything leads you to expect lower prices than a brick and mortar restaurant yet the prices are similar due to the small scale.

I read the whole article and until I read your comment, still thought it was a missing letter of the alphabet in the address of the postal letter that never got to him. Lol

Amazing when you consider the confidence espoused in the tone of the original post and the dismissiveness of a major safety matter. And it's still the top comment here two days later. This is on HN, what hope do the commons have?

I've been wondering about this and was about to make an HN thread asking about it as I couldn't find anything online. I'm no longer able to bypass the paywall via Incognito Mode. It appears to be IP-based and perhaps even gue

I think anyone with a corporate career and ambition is working hard these days. The difference with Americans is that so many in the workplace are just overly jittery disorganised idiots and it creates a cascading effect onto the culture.

Haha we have the same thing. Guy is so fit, has a great haircut, and an Apple Watch. He seems like the most content man in the world. This is in Australia where tradespeople often do quite well so it's not uncommon.

I'm an immigration lawyer and completely opposed to employer sponsored temporary visas. Either let someone in independently or don't let them in at all. The power it gives the employer is ridiculous.
