Good catch, I missed that. However, I guess that Apple will provide a dark mode for their map, too, at some point since they build dark mode into their OS(es?) anyway.

When DuckDuckGo is set to a dark theme, the map is also in dark mode! To me, that is an incredible valuable feature. Edit: which is a fallback to Mapbox, no Apple Maps feature.

I know what you’re talking about. I have tried a seemingly endless number of fonts. I really liked Hack and IBM Plex Mono, especially the latter. For a short period, I even coded with F25 Bank Printer - what a fun! Currently I use the Golan

Recently found the Golang fonts. https://blog.golang.org/go-fonts Monospaced with serifs - totally blew my mind. I am using it since then and it is the best font for me I have tried so far.

I have to admit, my first question in mind was how to disable colors because I do not use syntax highlighting at all.

Interesting perspective on the JavaScript ecosystem. I never had any debugging issues in particular, but the dependency hell drives me nuts, too.

The following article got me interested in ed. It shows how to automate a seemingly difficult to automate operation in an elegant way. https://jvns.ca/blog/2018/05/11/batch-editing-files-with-ed/

I used to use Sketch, however, I switched to Affinity Designer which I use on both desktop and iPad.

That is the reason why I like the Golang documentation; it consists of exhaustive comments, (runnable) examples, explanatory code snippets and links to the corresponding source. Works as a reference but also for explorative learning.

I have tried both with quite complicated applications and I have to say that I prefer tailwind. With PostCSS in your pipeline, you can add the tailwind plugin and start composing CSS. This way, you can use your configuration even in places

I always recommend this article: https://chris.beams.io/posts/git-commit/ The recommendations are the same, it's longer and provides more rationale at some points.

Lenovo‘s website was very frustrating when trying to buy a T480s; weird navigation and a configuration wizard that crashed sometimes. Mostly, though, they give you a model ID and if you put it in the “Model ID” search box, it yields nothing

Wonderful design - I’d consider this to be brutalist design already! Too bad I cannot value the usefulness of the product, but it looks great.

My colleague and me (both from Germany) are always looking for interesting side projects. Mail is in the profile, website gives a rough idea of what we do. We would love to hear from you. Regards!

I try like every editor, on a regular basis. I was heavy into Emacs for about half a year. But I always come back to (neo)vi(m) eventually. Main reasons for me are that it is fast, easy to use and I can move around and edit at a tremendous

Luckily, Skype is nothing I need to use. However, I would miss applications, namely Sketch. And I’d need to run Windows in a VM. I am also not sure about the build quality. Despite the keyboard, MacBooks are very well designed and built dev

One of colleagues argues that search has become infrastructure and thus there should be an offering from the state which is also responsible for other infrastructure. There was a (failed) attempt by the EU I know about. And I don’t see that

I cannot value if it is good or bad, but Go’s error handlig is really very verbose. On the one hand, it makes it quite easy to follow control flow but on the other hand it’s annoying to see an if err != nil on like every other line.

I think, the most important aspect I tell my developers is to not define functions inline during render. So, do not do this: <button onClick={ () => this.smth() }></button> This creates a new function every time
