I agree about there being no virtue in experiencing pain, but I think there's value in it. Neither form of personal enlightenment is inherently better, they are different experiences that lead different yet similar paths, though both p

Curious, how would we detect these? I'm guessing, but is it because we'd see a big empty space with a large gravitional pull? Would light bend around it similar to a black hole, or is the behaviour different enough to be obvious?

I'm in New Zealand, so the commonly prescribed stimulant is methylphenidate (i.e. Ritalin). We also have dextroamphetamine but only as instant release. I started on slow-release Rubifen which is generic methylphenidate, at 20mg/da

I didn't think my impairments were significant, to the point that it took me 20 years to go talk to a psych about it. My siblings were already diagnosed and nothing like me (in terms of symptoms) so I thought I was 'fine'. Af

Not sure if this relates to you, but I was recently diagnosed with ADHD (30~ y/o). My whole 20's I had trouble socialising outside of small groups of people I already knew, and wondered if it was autism related (my grandfather is

I heard of this as a kid, something along the lines of 'when walking down a street make an effort to look forward, through people (and not at them)'. Same concept applies, and in my experience it seems to work. Though this was bef

My core problem with this comes down to UX. I don't think that falls under 'charm' but Teams feels horrible to use in comparison to Slack. As an example, when switching to Teams to reply to a message why does it focus the sea

I should note this is normally done on a feature branch (with the ticket number attached). i.e. feature/{ticket-#}-{ticket-title} When merging you can pretty easily see what ticket each commit was for. Seems superfluous to put the same

I was taught by a previous manager always to follow: `add/update/remove/fix {feature/bug} by/with {reason} ({further explanation if required})` This also follows what I've seen at a few companies since then. Wo

A lot of people get into DRUGS out of boredom. When drugs can be used to change how you feel people often will to escape negative feelings. Replace boredom with depression, anxiety, pain, it's all similar. It's all about escapism.

This varies quite a bit throughout the world (I think). I've had both blisters and bottles in New Zealand/Australia.

Just formally ask the company, if they don't want you to they will tell you. Could be worth including a pitch of sorts ('Hey, Ive noticed a few problems using your site...') but MAKE SURE you don't incriminate yourself.

Do you really find it easier writing React without JSX, compared to just adding the JSX transpiler? I completely understand the overwhelming-ness of the JS ecosystem, but JSX is the one part I don't think I could live without.

Thank you very much for writing this out. I'm in this exact position at the moment (including the 24/7 anxiety) and this is real eye-opener. Time to make some changes.
