I love mike bostock's stuff, but his code often makes me feel sorry for whoever has to deal with his code after him // Pick a location that’s not yet in the maze (if any). do if ((index0 = remaining.pop()) == null) r

It's nice, but things like listing node.js as a server along with express.js make me feel like somebody isn't 100% on what node.js is.

I wish I could use make to build my JavaScript code, but I need it to also work on windows (easily). If there was a version of make I could point to that would work easily on windows, preferably as a non-global variable, I would use that, u

pipes and streams mean something slightly more specify in a node context, but they are actually compatible with Unix streams, which shockingly enough also work well on windows meaning you can string together a make-like build system which w

It's not really news that nosql is a vague and unhelpful term. if you lump together things like couchdb, a document database built for replication and Casandra a wide column database built for big data storage, pretty much everything i

IM pretty sure you can yank the power cord from couchdb as soon as you get a (positive) response and the data will be saved. Unlike mongo, couch has a sophisticated append only btree format for storing data, that is almost impossible to cor

well couch had a bad year in 2012, which Jan's talk touched on, but the project has been taking it's time sorting itself out and this year already has had some amazing things.

The idea is that show and list are only for things that can't actually handle json, like they want xml or worse, instead for small apps you can use jquery or pouch to download the json and render it client with a template, it's wh
