About 7,700 people die on any average day in America. Roughly 1,800 a day from heart disease, 1500 from cancer, and 450 from accidents. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm I imagine people would act a bit

Facebook does not deserve any benefit of doubt. You should assume the worst from one of the most evil companies in the US.

The worst thing about Parler is the bots. I browsed it a bit out of curiosity, a huge portion of the content is obvious bot. I looked into this further, and apparently Parler doesn’t bother blocking or banning bots unless the FBI or police

Lots of people dunking on this guy may have missed the fact that this was day 2 on the job. I don’t necessarily agree with his approach, but it is an impossible situation to be in. Thanks for sharing.

To add an example, YouTube landing page is full of curated content from Google. I have not subscribed to any of it. In fact, my subscribed videos are on a completely separate page. Google has chosen what they want me to see. Therefore, Goog

Access to internet services is not some fundamental human right. No one HAS to use these services. You can live a perfectly fine life without FB, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, Google, etc. I don’t have accounts with any of these services. M

Would I rather have to pay? Fucking yes! This should be the default. The default should be pay, with a free option that requires you to dump truck all your data. Tech giants have completely ruined the internet economy. You can’t even pay fo

10x is still an order of magnitude too low. This type of behavior should be financially debilitating for a company. $4 million is a rounding error for Facebook. The fine should be $4 billion.

The expiring messages fail in hilarious ways, all the time. Things like a few random messages from a prior day that are funny out of context all by themselves. If I open signal on my laptop sometimes it does this ridiculous “time lapse” whe

Signal is terrible. I use the app still, but it’s horribly buggy. The disappearing messages, a hallmark feature, is fundamentally broken in some way that I can’t fully comprehend. Totally unreliable. Telegram is better in every way... excep

This is the first I have heard of this Tether and Bitfinex story. Seems extremely shady. Does anyone have more details? However, I don’t really understand the distinction between Tether minting coins and people buying gold ETFs.

Basically... the FSD beta is not even close to being able to handle snow. It did not appear to be even 1% of the way toward being usable in snow.

And what happens when Googlers do become stupid? Or if they make a mistake? Or if they are hacked. Google should never be given access to this type of data. Never.

Practically no one was harmed by this. A penny or two per trade. It’s more the principle of the matter than the actual costs. The fact that Robinhood was clearly lying is the most concerning thing.

Apple had a long history in music prior to Apple Music. I have no doubt that Apple could make a car. But I do doubt that they could make a self driving car. Google is still trying to figure it out after a decade of research and development.
