I know a lot of folks who feel the same way about python (it's too dynamic and encourages unmaintainable code). It's a continuum; to me it's amazing how well python hit the sweet spot.

Before the 3g the web browser thing wasn't really that useful. If you have to be on wifi to get reasonable speeds, it's easier to just use your laptop vs a tiny screen with a slow processor.

My house built in 2017 is the same. I still don't really use the tub. I asked my wife why she never uses it, and she said "it takes forever to fill."

Also, aviation and software aren't orthogonal. E.g., the article mentioned that part of the reason the pilot was able to sustain a very narrow velocity window between stall and overrunning the runway was because of the A380's fly

IMO this is the defining characteristic of software development. It's why I love it, and why the processes that support doing it well are different from other types of projects. I also think other disciplines will inevitably move more

It depends on their support system. The years from 18-24 can be brutal. A few mistakes ("just a year off to travel", credit card debt, a pointless major chosen to have an easier time in class and more left for socializing) can bur

Exactly. YCC is already happening in Japan; it's inevitable here too. The only alternative is outright default, which never happens when the debt is denominated in currency the debtor can print.

It makes more sense when you realize some people have an extreme distaste for anything made by Facebook. If you want to dislike something bad enough, it's not hard to find/make up reasons to do so
