First, you're not wrong about Signal being insufficient against nation state adversaries. The Grugq has a nice talk about opsec that I can't seem to find atm. He sums up the issues with Signal nicely in a Medium article. [1] Tha

This attitude is a big reason why doing constructive work in security is hard. Yes, there are huge challenges and lots of different attack vectors. No, that doesn't invalidate the progress that's made when someone invests a lot o

The pypi page for pssh links to an old (dead?) Google Code repository. Do you know if the project is still being maintained? For most uses I find that ansible ad-hoc commands give a nice balance -- just a tiny bit of learning curve, and on

The idea is that you can get alerts and view the photos/videos remotely when you're not at home. For example, when you're at work or on vacation. But for that, you might as well buy a cheaper camera and configure it yourself

Funny that you mention Breitbart. Their founder Andrew Breitbart claimed that he helped start Huffington Post in an effort to show that mainstream news sources (NY Times etc) actually share most of the views of groups toward the far left,

If the goal is just to avoid using Google, you don't necessarily need to sync contacts and calendars over USB. You can use CalDav and CardDav with a non-Google online service like Fastmail.

I'm a very novice user, so I don't know the answer to your (1) or (3). I'm fairly certain that I've done (2) though. IIRC the main trick was switching to the Kramdown parser, as recommended here: https://jek

Ivy looks great. That said, every time I see a new SSG in Python, I get all excited about it for a minute. Then I remember this bit of advice: "Just use Jekyll". > Jekyll is not better than the rest for any fundamental design

I'm not a cryptographer, but for your dedup version, you might want to consider using SIV mode [1,2]. It provides a well known, already vetted deterministic authenticated encryption, so you don't have to build your own from HMAC
