How on earth can styling every **damn hyperlink inline over and over again be a time saver?

Tailwind is an abomination. There, I've said it.

Agreed. Spring hasn't changed that much. It's still an annotation-fest at core and the method names don't appear to be getting any shorter.

If Java is so great why do I still have to escape regex metacharacters even after the introduction of raw strings? It's insane to have to do this in 2023.

Now you're re-implementing CSS Tailwind.

File storage. So simple until you factor-in read/write locking. Now it's more complicated than using a database.

Leave Tailwind well alone unless you enjoy individually styling every anchort tag inline over and over again. Tailwind is an abomination that has spread like cancer throughout the front-end dev space.

I would imagine this could be challenged. They are merely referring to Javascript in their title not appropriating the trademark itself.

One of the few who retained his sanity during the Dockernetes military takeover of the devops world.

`Executors.newVirtualThreadPerTaskExecutor()`. Java verbosity is alive and well.

Are you aware of clojure.spec?

Out of the box Clojure gives you: - Real immutability - Persistent data structures with structural sharing - A real Lisp REPL not a Python console - 650 builtins to wrangle data in ways yo never imagined possible - The JVM and JS platforms

The original goal was for Dart to replace JS in Chrome.

Seconded. I can't imagine how solo native devs manage to make a living given the time involved.

After hacking around with various Neovim "frameworks" I decided I want my text editor to but just that and no more so switched back to Vim and MacVim. The improvements to Vim's scripting language were icing on the cake.

I dunno. I lived through Internet Explorer, SCO and Linux patent lawsuit days so I reckon it's only a matter of time before Github goes ASP.Net.

Surely a better metric would be actual jobs as advertised on Indeed.com where there's a metric ton of React jobs which doesn't look like changing anytime soon regardless of what may be happening on Twitter.

Gradle must die. If learning the build tool is more work than learning the language it supports something is wrong.

CPAN had the right idea - CPAN testers - back in the late 90s. Oh, how advanced we are 25 years later.

I always wondered about the npm package output which, according to http://www.modulecounts.com , is 51k per day. That's insane when you consider its nearest competitor, PyPI is 250 per day.

Dang, there goes my investment in Jeffrey Friedl's "Mastering Regular Expressions" which launched my programming career after I discovered a reference to it in "Dreamweaver Bible" back in 2000.

You're obviously reading the wrong books. Try Programming Perl, Clojure in Action or Well Grounded Rubyist. If you have a soul you will not want to part with them.

Disagree completely. My copy of "Programming Perl" 4th edition is still in pristine condition after two readings and I prefer it that way. My favourite tech books all have plastic jackets which I ordered individually for each book

K8s, Docker and AWS/GCP/Azure are to ops what React is to web development, ie. rarely the appropriate tool for the job. Trouble is you now have a generation of devs who have no experience with anything else.
