Apple/Google Pay also implement the EMV standards, so at least in theory, it shouldn’t make a difference. In practice, I don’t know and I can’t check, unfortunately. It’s possible that they chose not to implement this particular tag. I

When the payment terminal asks the EMV chip on your payment card for tag no. 5F20, it will be told the Cardholder Name [1]. That, in connection with your PAN [2], is a pretty stable identifier. (Not if you are using prepaid cards, obviously

I'm very fond of Notepad2, but development ceased in 2012 and the fork that I'm using, Notepad2-mod [1], had its last release in 2017. I wonder how many buffer overflows are lurking in there. I just discovered Notepad3 [2], which

Seriously, uBlock Origin is the one "endpoint security" product that's actually useful. I install it on practically every machine I ever touch.

One of the attached screenshots made me deeply nostalgic because it reminded me of a time when GUI icons were both elegant and easy to comprehend and distinguish: https://bug213945.bmoattachments.org/attachment.cgi?id=30701.

Actually, that's exactly what I did and the energy meter will gladly measure a 1W LED bulb. That's why I think consumption is <1W most of the time. At the end of the day, everything <5W or even <10W would be pretty great.

Actually, I just put a used HP ProDesk 600 G3 Microtower (Pentium Gold G4560) into operation, and my energy meter shows 0.0W most of the time (which can't be true, but apparently it's something <1W) with Ubuntu + TLP installed

If it's FIDO2, then you don't actually expose biometrics to the site. The verification is done on device and unlocks a key saved in the TPM/secure enclave. Of course, once Face ID/Windows Hello logins on the web become a

What do you mean by ‘a provider like gmail’? Because Outlook.com arguably is a provider like Gmail and it accepts and then silently discards emails all the time. My experience with them is exactly the same as kilburn’s.

I believe that both TeX (Knuth-Plass Line Breaking Algorithm) and InDesign (paragraph composer – expired US Patent 6,510,441) do this, so there is at least one open-source implementation that could be used as a starting point. Unfortunately
