Subsistence farmers in developing countries often have quite happy lives. I've lived in PNG, and the biggest thing they lack is health care, but that's getting better all the time. Farmers in developed western countries probably have it wor

I don't try to prevent Facebook from figuring out who I am or what I do. They should have a huge amount of info about me, but their ads are still entirely irrelevant.

The Chromium developers really dislike localStorage ( http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=58985#c7 ) They'll have to fix this bug, but I won't be surprised if they try to remove localStorage entirely soon.

I don't doubt what you say, but would that mean that once you've used up its ammunition an empty gun is no longer considered a firearm in US law?

I'm no expert, but compared to the Weimar Republic it looks like Nazi Germany relaxed gun control considerably, unless you were Jewish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Germany

Maybe because of the last three words?

I almost wonder if you should be liable for having a gun stolen, unless you can prove it was adequately secured.

So a silly question: does the constitution protect the right to own ammunition as well as weapons?

Well we in Australia are so very disadvantaged in that not only are guns hard to buy, but our banks are strongly regulated too. Oh, and don't forget about Medicare, all those doctors being paid by the government. It's depressing.

Got an example where guns which were allowed were then banned by a government which then turned tyrannical?

The ligatures aren't especially creepy, but they're still bad. It is very odd to use the blatant st and ck ligatures and not use f or t ligatures. And maybe it's the fact that you're using slab serifs? I haven't considered this before, but

I thought the opposite -- the ligatures seem like they're supposed to make the company look fancy, but when combined with the photos of the founders I just felt creeped out.

When did the redefining of a KB from 1024 bytes to 1000 bytes happen? And has it truly happened? If you get 2GB RAM don't you get 2048 MB, not 2000 MB? I've always thought it was just the harddrive manufacturers being stingy, claiming their

I know a dev on the OLPC project who told me they found bugs in the firmware of the SD cards they were using for their laptop 'harddrive'. I imagine it'd be a whole lot of fun fixing them.

Apple have always managed to get good contracts with schools -- almost all the computers in my primary school were Apples. It doesn't feel right that tax payer money should go to a company which charges $110AUD for 16GB of disk space.

You're missing like, all the verbs! "switch on", "read" are the ones I came across in the first minute. Seriously think about implementing everything which the How to Play IF Postcard mentions: http://pr-if.org/doc/play-if-card/ For tha

Rebranding like this can work okay -- The University of Queensland introduce a new logo recently, which is quite similar to the UC one, and use it along side the tradition shield. I don't love UQ's logo or its colour scheme, but it's not te
