Why is college education broken in the US? If one is doing a STEM degree then they can earn enough salary to pay for their loans and live happily ever after. Isn't the issue when either international students come and invest thousands

Your intuition is wrong. Suppose, 10^-9 odds of a startup making 10 billion. Let's assume the other terms are negligible. E_startup = ... + 10^-9 * 10^11 = 100$ E_faang = 10^-1 * 10^5 + 10-2 * 10^6 + ... >= 10^4

Right. Even if you knew 100 people that all made startups and made 10M+ it would still prove nothing. What percentage of startups do you think succeed?

Yes, we destroy the environment all the time. Yet nothing major gets done about it. The average person isn't the one that needs convincing, it's the higher ups and how to reach them? Joe Biden got the US back to the Paris agreemen

Lots of people use vim just to appear hardcore and not because it confers serious editing advantage. Vim itself is a really really bad editor. It's so obvious that it was written by a programmer with commands like 5dd, 6gg etc. I find

Focus on coding competitions has negatively impacted my software engineering journey. The only benefit is you are better at interviewing and they are fun to do but the cons far outweigh the pros.

That's not an ideal comparison. Chess is 90% tactics, whereas development job isn't 90% competitive programming.
