Who wrote that snippet? Who knows? That’s anonymous. Just because I committed it it doesn’t mean I wrote it. There’s no link to the source, so it’s anonymous, even if committed by me. This is 100% equivalent to copying a whole function fr

Importing an external, tested, reliable dependency is completely different from anonymous non-checked untested code in your repository committed by someone who did not even read it. Check out the memoize example. That fails as soon as you p

I think the 2 are similar enough that are a bit subjective. For me it’s easier to pull out my card holder and slide out my card than trying to unlock my phone several times in a row. It doesn’t help that some places don’t know how to use NF

Indeed on NFC on my phone would be faster if I didn’t have to unlock it with a PIN code due to Face ID and my mask. I miss Touch ID-based Apple Pay.

Unlocking your phone, opening an app, possibly unlocking that one, tapping to scan, and then accept is NOT more convenient than NFC in your card. Unless your talking about costs. For private free money transfer, the US and many other places

Yes and they were wrong. There’s a whole “misconceptions programmers have about dates” you might want to read. The only number for dates is the Unix timestamp.

So the problem is that “Google is in charge.” Sorry but I don’t think that’s “worse” than AMP at all. Google was in charge of that and it hijacked URLs. Clickbait.

No it doesn’t. Dates aren’t meant to be worked with as raw numbers, so the utility of 0-based numbers is gone and now you only have February ending on day number 27

To put it in clearer terms, this is like selling a "Chicago-style pizza" but putting cheddar cheese instead of mozzarella. This new version can be successful, but it's still not the original Chicago-style pizza.

Yes because the best way to tell people to run 15-year-old software is to tell them to visit a UI they’ve never seen in their life as opposed to, say, just skip a version number.

You don't know why they skipped 9? Your argument makes no sense. The comment above is 100% correct. Just because Apple left v10 it doesn't absolutely mean Microsoft is just doing it to copy it. You're talking absolute nonsens

I'd say finally. Like it's happening on the Mac, it's getting harder for the average user to screw up since software from "unidentified developers" can't run by default. I can still run anything I want as a pow

I suppose that it could still be done by "unlocking" the device by logging into MS servers, similar to the Activation lock on Apple devices: Malware can't "remove" the information… but Apple.com can.

Downvotes would be fine if I ever managed to post anything. Most subs have automated post removal when the post doesn’t follow whatever requirement they have but you only know this requirement after you’re done making your post. Thanks a lo

Yep, Reddit is basically a junk site at the moment and it gets worse by the day. Just this month they started restricting “potentially NSFW” posts from being opened unless you login. This is their direction now, soon enough we’ll have popun

I agree with that dropdown part, but the UI in the first screenshot is laughable, especially for the scroll bar and menu bars, you surely agree. The Windows 10 UI is much cleaner and so is the macOS one (unchanged since 2001, however there&

When Vista came out I was one of the few ones that loved it and was excited about the slew of features that Windows Explorer brought. Every field of photos and MP3s was visible, sortable, groupable, editable. Then I tried macOS 10.4 and fou

I've been looking for this for years. I have a little blog for family that I keep around on shared hosting but would really like to find a way to move the active part to serverless and just update the static version once a year. All of

I think this comment is correct. This post amounts to "use the Simply Static plugin and upload the HTML files somewhere," which is nothing new and can be done without having to setup a dummy repository to appease CloudFlare. From

This is such a common request that several companies doing exactly this were born and closed shop over the years. I wrote a little script and placed it on Lambda and it still works years later. There are plenty of pre-packaged examples and

There’s is nothing about how browsers decode images here. This is an article about an event called “decode” which you can await. It would be more interesting it was titled this way.

There’s a number of incorrect information in both articles so maybe this should not be here. Even the title is not really applicable. If you paint an image on canvas when it’s not ready, the browser won’t wait for it, the frame will be bla
