Hey, OctoSQL author here. Great to see such benchmarks and another dataset to test with! Just wanted to add a small explanation for the interested to why at least OctoSQL[0] falls behind in the first and last test. OctoSQL supports retracti

Agreed. I almost never use sort.Sort in practice, sort.Slice is just so much more usable. Also, based on the recent blog post[0] a method-based approach will be a tiny bit slower than the function-based approach. Not that it matters for mos

Keep in mind that the usefulness of stack traces quickly breaks down in the presence of goroutines.

Not sure which swipe keyboard you are using, but the default iOS implementation is terrible. Google keyboard is orders if magnitude better (and handles multilingual situations much better as well).

Slightly OT, but whenever I see Clojure projects I think: "I'd love to write something bigger in Clojure one day, experience it, and see if it's all it was promised to be." That said, I don't really have any good us

To be fair, the author does provide arguments for why Infrastructure as Code should be used, in the next few paragraphs.

Great article, just skimmed it, but will definitely dive deeper into it. I thought Go is doing full monomorphization. As another datapoint I can add that I tried to replace the interface{}-based btree that I use as the main workhorse for gr

No thank you. I'll have to take care of backups, security, availability, updates, etc. I prefer to use a managed solution. If you don't want to lose data on being banned, just do your own backups, which are by themselves much less

Definitely! I'd be worried though that functional developers coming to Go (for whatever reason) would try to write Go functionally. That will fortunately be very hard thanks to this limitation. Nothing specific against functional progr

Great to see this! Generics will drastically improve datastructure libraries. That said, for people worrying about overcomplication, fortunately methods can't have type parameters. That means ergonomic monads are not possible to implem
