I agree, and I'm frustrated this is the new big update because it seems like liquid glass ate up most of the energy that might have gone to a real major feature. Not only is it just UI changes, it looks worse.

There were some negative effects at a construction shutdown of a street recently where it temporarily did hurt some business, mostly retail shops but not the restaurants/bars which had a big boost in business. These boutique style shop

I think most jobs you can tell from a combination of the recruiting process and then onboarding and your first week. I have felt the "I hope this isn't how it is every day" that the author mentions at a few of my jobs and the

I assume I'm not the only person here but after the WWDC keynote and list of new features I was pretty disappointed that it seems like the macOS and iOS teams have been doing a lot of UI changes and not a ton on actual new features. Fo

There are major things at some large enterprises that are given the same level of support. Friend works on an internal link shortener app that is heavily used at their mega corporation and it gets maybe one ticket every other sprint just fo

It looks nice and I like the general idea, but what's the difference between this and a todos folder in joplin or any existing notes app? That's what I use personally and at work I do the same thing with onenote (because of mega e

This sounds interesting but as someone who hasn't worked at AWS, and isn't already familiar with TLA+ or P, I would have liked to see even a hello world example of either of them. Without that, it sounds like a lot of extra pain f

The real issue is that we didn't carry the program further south past panama and used the darien gap as a choke point to keep ourselves safe. Maybe if we had some more solidarity with south americans, the worm could have been eliminate

It's crazy that the original post didn't cover libreoffice at all. Back in high school my parents stopped buying office licenses for the family computers and as soon as I got a new laptop I moved to libre and it's been great

What you're describing is how the good standups I've been in were run. Unfortunately that was one year at a startup and the other enterprise and startup teams I've been on were not run like that :(

We used to do this on my pre covid teams. There was a big touch screen that we'd all walk over to, someone would log in to and open jira on. Now we have the 30-90 minute mega meeting instead :(

I've had them go 90 minutes because they branch off into tangents from people's updates and they become a solution session between one dev and our manager. Info is pretty silo'd (not required for security or anything, just ba

It's really just monitoring you. A designated technical lead on your team can be very helpful, but once someone moves off the dev team but also isn't able to make any decisions from the product/business side they just become

This is the kind of thing my manager and skip manager are up to. Most of our jira tickets now are written as a random jumble of ideas, fed into internal proprietary LLM and then turned into jira description and acceptance criteria. Totally

Even his justification for why AI can't become a VC sounds like you could just go by random chance and have the same chance at success which means even the personal touch he is trying to advocate is useless. A monkey could do his job.
