Good stuff. Can't wait for CentOS to pull this stuff in so I don't have to pay for it :)

Perhaps I'm jumping on the bandwagon here or not[1] but perhaps that's a good thing? [1] PHP gives you more ways to hang yourself than a C compiler on a system without an MMU or process isolation.

Yes you're actually entirely right. Therefore I proclaim your point as step -1 ! :) It'd be nice to see solutions like this entirely browser based. LLVM/asm.js?

Agree, apart from PowerShell which is a bastardised mutant crawling snail spawn of satan. It's like using a VAX 11/780 over a 300bps dialup. SMS messages have a higher throughput. This is almost entirely because it uses the CLR wh

We have put in place some of the toughest controls that one can possibly have within a democratic Government When the fuck did I have a say in that? Democracy my fucking arse. Plutocracy more like.

That's sensible when you consider that postgresql used to be a SQL layer over postgres. Not sure if that is the case now.

Yes they do. The internet isn't a simple star based network where every access point can be controlled. It's a dynamic system (powered by BGP). Router advertisments can fuck up any content filtering instantly if desired. Also read

Well we know how much your principles are worth. Secondly, I've done the same move and it cost £16 to migrate (regrade was required as it was on LLU). I spend £55/month and for that I get the line rental, 300Gb. It's a tiny p

Although this appears to be rubbish, I'd love to see something like this in-game or at least an option to play against people who just aren't nasty. If you've ever played on XBox Live, you'll get what I mean. It's b

To be honest, a lot of wikipedia is crap. An abridged version would be a couple of gigabytes perhaps which isn't beyond the realm of possibility. That'd fit nicely on a smart phone/tablet and could be taken somewhere with les

This makes me wonder why we couldn't have a DVCS with encyclopaedia content in it. That would be easy to "pull" offline and update regularly and "push" back up with changes. It'd be easier to distribute content

There is nothing wrong with receiving benefits. I actually receive low rate disability for two members of my family and child tax credit. My point is that only the JSA covers your salary. The rest is for the care of your children and your a

Good for you. That's what we need. Been in the same situation. That's easy as I've already done it before on several occasions. I'd employ them for the minimum wage and pay up their travel allowance (be that oyster or se

It doesn't work like that. As someone who has been unemployed you have to deal with the following: 1. Child tax credit works on your previous year's income so it can take up to a year to get adjusted. Same with child benefit. 2. H

I'm a business owner and have owned several businesses. I have employed over the years ~50 people. Your point is total bollocks. Sorry for the language but that's the sort of detached non-holistic thinking that allows slavery to e

Disagree: 1. The business should foot the wage. 2. The wage should be fair. Doing something isn't actually necessarily possible. We've automated a big chunk of people's jobs away. There isn't necessarily a place for ever

That's the sort of ignorance that is promoted. The big deal is that JSA which is the only paid amount is £56.80 a week. For a 40 hour standard week that is £1.42 an hour. The national minimum wage is £6.31 an hour. Not only that, the j

See my point in a sibling post. The government want to keep unemployment statistics down so they will end up forcing people into training placements and unpaid internships without a job at the end instead. This is already happening.

Yes and no. This subject somewhat angers me. Yes people like Walmart and Amazon workers need protection form maltreatment. Definitely. This should be built into the law though, not into unions. And no because the existing unions don't

And as usual, there are other solutions: http://www.realseeds.co.uk/ for example which involves cultivating and selling heritage non-hybrid seeds. Stuff tastes good as well - I grow quite a bit.
