Wow, thanks for all the feedback! I agree that expression level editing can get pretty cumbersome at times, it's the biggest design challenge in the editor I think. One thing we may add is a toggle to edit expressions in plain text and

Functions are at least first class! We have map and filter on lists, for example. I'd love to add some more advanced curriculum that focuses on teaching a more functional style.

Also moved in to teaching high school CS. It's hard but the kids are great. I've found that it's a lot less about doing a great job explaining loops or whatever and more about mentorship and getting kids excited about the top
