x86/x64 only, by the way. I couldn't get it to build VS Code on a Raspberry Pi and the binary releases are only for x86/x64.

There's a decent community of BBSs connected over telnet as well. The ESP2866 makes it easy to "dial in" from an 8-bit machine.

For us, it's about developing on the same node version used in production. That's necessary if you're not deploying to a containerized environment or you're using something completely out of your control like AWS Lambda.

COBOL was the butt of so many jokes in the hacker culture back then. Hell, COBOL by itself was a punchline. Lots of C++ & Java in those days. Mostly C++.

Same. Shoot, I've been pulled into the boss's office before and told not to use terms like "big O" on the job because they confuse the junior devs. And I've never needed to balance a tree or reverse a linked list or

Definitely a cultural difference, and I'm intrigued about this approach. I used to work the shoe department at K-Mart and spent most of my time cleaning up after people who tried shoes on and just left them in the middle of the aisle,

I took "keyboarding" in high school on PS/2 computers with sweet, sweet Model M keyboards. That would have been late 1994/early 1995. We were taught to use two spaces.
