Allow me to disagree. Finding good engineers that are knowledgeable with Elixir has been difficult to the point that we’ve hired people that never professionally used the language to senior positions. That’s not a problem on its own, since

I’m pretty sure that the libraries you consider core++ such as ExUnit and Ecto are considered feature complete and won’t get any bigger.

Phoenix is obviously “the big thing” and no other language/framework combination has something as good as LiveView. Rails cannot compete there. Other than that, building Livebook apps for our customer success team has been really grea

Their blog is great, because they invested heavily in perception from the outside. Coming from the Elixir world, them hiring Chris McCord (creator of Phoenix) and sponsoring a ton of open source projects slapping on their logo, seemed great

To add to the first point, creating documentation from bullet points. Prompting something like “Phrase the following points as technical documentation. Use the Microsoft Technical Writing Style Guide. Don’t add or remove any information” is

Using GitLab EE at work and GitHub for side projects, the difference is genuinely shocking. I love tinkering with CI usually but using GitLab I actively try to avoid it.

My team’s product is mainly built on Argo Workflows, and while the idea of the tool is great, we have learned to massively distrust it. It doesn’t always do what you tell it to, or, worse, it tells you it’ll do something and then does somet

Using [ and ] is completely normal in so many applications. QWERTZ just is a bad design, and applications shouldn’t have to work around that by making keybindings more difficult. My team has ~100 engineers in QWERTZ countries and I don’t kn

Hiring isn’t really that bad. Definitely fewer candidates, but they tend to be higher quality.

First of all, the article is talking about 68-70 cents per kWh, not 79 as mentioned by the parent. He also was talking in present tense, not past.

That is just factually untrue. Most chargers are .52€/kWh right now, with a 10 cent surcharge at peak times, which is 4pm to 8pm at all the places I’ve been recently.

Which languages do you support? My main work is in Elixir, where Copilot is incredibly weak. It’s completely understandable that less training data for less popular languages means worse performance, but it’d be interesting to hear whether

To add to this, I have an application in production with a client right now that literally doesn’t have a logo. The favicon is the initial of the service’s name on a random color background. Nobody has ever asked or commented.
