Morbid, but true. If a nuke truly hit the ground in D.C., I can't help but shudder at the thought of the hysteria that would ensue though. Post-9/11 hysteria would look like rational behavior in comparison.

Maybe Netflix with all the latest content is good enough, but 30 day delayed Netflix isn't. This is such bullshit. The only thing unhappy Netflix users can do is cancel their membership, which is (I'm sure) nothing but good news to the movi

But if you clearly don't have the domain knowledge required to make those judgements it really can be helpful. I don't know anything about wine, and I really appreciate being told, "this is made my ____, they are super famous for ____". the

There are at on of people that can't/don't want to afford Photoshop. Also, downloading/installing it could actually block them from using it. Now they can just blast over to a "website" and get the basic functionality...that's a problem bei

I just moved to Portland from Spokane, and I am loving my life. So many cool places and the community feel is great. Cuts the drive to the coast down to 90 minutes rather than 7 hours as well.

"...some times authoritarian governments can do the right (thing?) a lot faster then democratic ones..." I really like this train of thought. It's so easy to get caught in Democracy = CORRECT. For me anyway.

I adore free books. One of the things that pushed me more towards the Python universe, instead of the Ruby universe, was that the quality of the free literature available for the language, and it's major web framework Django. (I know there

Maybe for everyone that enjoys using it as well. This will make so many people start using UStream that had never heard of it before. I'm not sure if they were in any danger of "going away" anytime soon, but certainly they aren't now.

In the same vein, I have an account and follow people, but I check it about once a week. I just haven't found a way to extract valuable information from it. I love what Rands ( http://www.randsinrepose.com/archives/2007/09/11/the_twitter...

Is having a GUI a requirement? If not, check out Diakonos ( http://purepistos.net/diakonos/ ) I haven't used it much, but the keyboard shortcuts are all "standard", and it's branded as a "Linux editor for the masses". Maybe the lack of a GU

One thing they seem to do that is different is a less than 20$/month low end. Maybe that will help with impulse, "hey I'd love a slice to mess with" purchases.

It seems like text messaging fills this gap for 90% of users. Yes it sounds a lot better to me, but aren't the mobile carriers going to hate (resist, etc) something that undercuts their cash cow of .25$ text messages?

Does anyone have experience using Flex Builder instead of the Flash "IDE" ? I have had to start using Flash a bit at work, and their IDE is just so painful to use. Here's to hoping this is a step in the right direction!

I love this. If everyone did this, then Microsoft would lose the power to do whatever it wanted. Standards compliance would not be optional for them anymore. I hope this is a trend that continues.
