I wonder what would happen if it wasn't such a waste of money to give it to the government. Would people be more inclined to stick around and do so? I don't blame him one bit, seems like most of his money would end up bailing out a bank or

Along these lines are there any plans for "learn compilers the hard way" ? Missed that big time in school.

Losing 20 lbs. changed how I feel everyday in such a positive way.. I can't even imagine 100! And like the poster said, you can eat amazing food and lose weight.

Obligatory XKCD: http://xkcd.com/538/ Seriously though, why does the government think they can win at this stuff? Without hitting the guy with a wrench that is.

If something is leaky, it's worth force killing it then, right?

Certainly no one would buy the enterprise version of Github if it was free though. Just a thought.

It'd be fun to see the tech stacks of the various political parties and see how they stack up against the stereotypes, etc. I mean this has to be Java right? or PHP? edit: or .NET! Duh!

Almost always, yes. If you script everything all the time, even if it takes you longer, twenty years later you'll be able to script anything so fast you'll be so productive your head will spin. It's like learning Vim. :)

Without severely paranoid steps being taken, if someone has your physical device they are going to be be able to gain access to the files on that device. This isn't hard math to do.

Siri isn't sending anything to anyone. I think that's his point. Siri added a task to a calendar, just like she has always "known" how to do.

By 2pm they were all running it? And Apple dropped the ball.. how? I understand there were delays, but I got a ton of updates yesterday that I really needed (iOS developer) and they all worked well together.

It won't matter if the files are saved in the "Documents" folder as that isn't cleaned.

So, people (developers) are going to have to put their stuff in Documents, and instruct users to disable the iCloud sync for their particular app, unless the user really wants to have it eat into their iCloud storage. Would that work?

This feels like a response to destroyallsoftware.com. Which is AWESOME. I'm glad the "pro" market for screencasts is getting more attention.

You're probably right. Seems mostly a case of.. "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." Mix in a bit of "lazy" and you've got yourself a situation that sucks for the small people unable to fix the big sy

Notch just talked about how it was going to be super expensive to do this, and changed the quality of the stream to low to hopefully counteract that somehow? That seems crazy to me, we all want to watch this and it's costing him money to do

Always fun to read about how someone rolled their own, but as nerds we have to poke right? Why write a textile parser in Go? Run the JSON through one that's already written? Store the posts pre-rendered?

I like the author's premise. It's hard to find good writing that hasn't been rewritten.. a lot. That seems true to me about code as well. Perhaps we're seeing a lot of "rough draft" code being pushed to production. Novels never get publishe

LibreOffice is such a bad name, hopefully if they merge back to OpenOffice and drop the stupid .org from their name. Is it the name of the project or their website? nobody knows!
