I've gotten terrific answers to the questions I've posted on there, for what it's worth. And it was stuff that was difficult to google for (which is why I asked it there).

Think about how flaky translation of written text already is, and then imagine doing a speech-to-text step first. I strongly suspect this isn't ready for prime time, yet. And I'm guessing the potential for hilarious mishaps is fairly high.

It highlights the absurdity of the whole thing, really. It seems hard for TI to argue that it's illegal to post a mathematical fact, doesn't it? Especially one that's so concise and straightforward.

I'm not sure Texas counts as getting close to California... (I've lived in both, currently in Austin.)

Not sure about that. This would tend to promote flame wars, and (on reddit) pun threads.

Perhaps a good time to note the number of concepts that made the crossover from science fiction to science reality?

And one of the best ways would be "just code the thing up". Make some simple prototype and put it online. Doesn't seem that tricky, really.

I'd read this before, and was a little frustrated with it, since I'm a fan of C++. However, the points in the OP linked article make a lot more sense to me than some Linus rant.

You sound pretty certain. Could it be that opinions differ? And that yours is not the majority opinion at the moment? You might want to qualify your statements a little bit...

And supposedly the Id guys had zero confidence that the Valve guys were going to come up with anything cool.

Left 4 Dead. 'Nuff said. (Yeah I know you can play on 360, but it's not as cool.)

I can see why you would feel that way about the phrase "spaz out", but just to be clear: I don't think that's a common view. Saying "spaz out" is not commonly considered politically incorrect, at least as far as I know; I've literally never

The most interesting statistic to me was the one that seems to indicate MMO playing cuts into (or replaces) TV watching time. That's actually kind of reassuring to me. I think it's healthier for people to play MMO's for hours on end, then t

It is a fact that the PS3 is a lot more painful to develop for, than 360 or Wii. Maybe his goal is to get Sony to come out with some better developer tools. Or just stuff that works right, and makes sense. Sony's attitude toward developers,

I'm not sure if you mean it to, but something about that strikes me as derogatory toward 50-year-olds with landscaping companies. They are taking a big risk too, and doing something important, even if it's not as sexy as a 20-year-old makin

It's not just that they don't overlap; it's that they don't even really relate or affect each other. In other words, one is pointing North and the other West. They aren't opposites; just different.
