buildr is actually an extension of rake. It essentially adds tasks for building Java projects (classpaths, libraries, etc) and for packing standard formats (jar, war, ear, etc). I've been using it for a while now and it's great.

I've thought of this before as well. PHP's changing syntax for different functions is particularly annoying. Self-documenting is an added bonus.

Tried it out. We actually have these funky glass "whiteboards" and it still came out pretty well. A slightly higher resolution output would be nice. Handwriting is hard to read without zooming in a couple of times. Other than that, I agree

Interesting. I thought only Apple could sell digital content in apps on their platform. That's why Amazon doesn't let you buy books directly from the Kindle app. Has it changed recently?

I've had a similar interest lately, to freshen up on some higher maths that I've studied in school and mostly forgotten due to lack of use. Calculus, linear algebra, statistics; I feel like it would be good to review some cliff notes, but n

I haven't looked into it, but facebook seems to forget that I'm logged in all the time. It's been happening for a while and on both Safari 4 and 5. Haven't noticed it on other sites so far.

There are actually two different buffers in X and they are each used a bit differently. See here for an explanation: http://www.jwz.org/doc/x-cut-and-paste.html

Very cool and about time! I've been using Transmit 3.x for what seems like ages now. I've mostly switched to using Cyberduck for the last couple years, as it's matured quite a bit since the time I purchased Transmit, and remote editing over

This page describes what the "experiment" is all about - http://barabasi.com/bursts/ You're basically revealing the actual book one word at a time as you adopt them.

my tl;dr summary - After seeing several doctors and chiropractors for her excruciating back pain, Lucy found that exercise and [re-]building core strength was the answer. The problem was her muscles, not her bones.

Seems to be a play on the fact that the article basically goes on to explain that these numbers have no basis in reality.

Very cool hack. I especially love the inclusion of the Perl code to "use" it, as if leaving it out would leave people thinking "this is cool, but how can I use it in perl?!"

Ah, you mean 3rd party access to gmail via IMAPOauth. I forgot about services like threadsy that do just that.

What's the point? Isn't OAuth all about 3-legged authentication scenarios? Why would it be useful for IMAP, particularly when the provider, Google in this case, already has your credentials.

This is a very long time coming. I really thought it would happen much sooner than it has, though I wonder how long before it starts shipping.

This is something I've wondered about for a long time and glad to see it being implemented. The current iteration seems to have lots of random people listed as first order connections though.
