Really? I haven't seen this happening yet. I still self-host copies of my publications. I'm not sure how I (or others in the same position) would respond to a request to remove them from IEEE.

The best explanations I've found seem to include "a culture of victimhood" rising in popularity [0]. Though my sociologist friends probably wouldn't agree. [0] http://booksandjournals.brillonline.com/cont

I've noticed this in my own classes. I switched to using a tablet with a pen years ago for this reason. Paper and pen are nice too, but I do like the ability to look up things if questions arise. It's also great for classes that a

Yes, I'd agree. The most troubling part is that often our projects are multi-year grants, with each phase building on the prior, which truly merits the use of good software engineering techniques. However, as soon as the PI of the gran

When will actual testing be conducted on this? My understanding is that bird strike tests are conducted against jet engines. Am I missing something that prevents us from conducting a few tests with these everyday "drones"? I have

Yeah, our time to shine has finally come! We use Bitbucket in our ~30 member academic robotics research lab, it's wonderful because they are nice enough to supply us with as much as we need (private repos, teams, etc.) for free!

While I think that many of the world's higher education systems are moving towards optimizing throughput rather than focusing on truly engaging with students, it is wrong to assume that this trend only affects the humanities. As a rese

Did your phones use a double press of the headphones button to skip tracks? I know on some device I have used there is a delay in interpreting a single press because the device has a longer window to allow for a double press. Although this
