There's a temptation to throw the baby out with the bathwater. The NSA have shown that they, unsurprisingly, have some ability in this area. The trick is surely to discern constructive and destructive contributions.

The Raspberry Pi copes with XBMC even on the 256MB model, 512 should be fine if the GPU is at least roughly equivalent. Video acceleration I gather is the usual issue, I've no idea what the software support is like on this.

Yes, at least. For one I believe all DigitalOcean boxes have SSDs. I've found their boxes much better per $ than an EC2 VM. EC2 has a much wider tool suite and is possibly better if you regularly spin machines up and down. YMMV, but fo

If you merge them won't you either lose the highlight-copy or have the highlight-copy throw out your explicitly copied text? I like having the two separate, that would be a retrograde step as far as I'm concerned.

I suspect there will be different criteria at each ISP, kept secret in the name of protecting children without anyone taking responsibly for that list when it inevitably gets abused. Secret until leaked that is.

Probably because they prefer to spend their time working in a stable contract rather than out of work marketing themselves. My current contract is for a year and I invoice monthly. If I doubled my rate I'd be out of work.

Just search for Java contracts on almost any job site. My rate is comfortably more than £400/day even well outside London (1 year contract term, extended).

Isn't this similar to Kim Dotcom's Mega filesharing service -encrypt data on the client so the service doesn't ever see what you're sending/storing?

Not sure why you'd edit JSON by hand in general. It doesn't tend to be used for configuration files, AIUI this move is following the trend of sending JSON over the web. So surely looking at parsing JSON vs. XML in a browser is where the rea

An offline installer package as an 'all-in-one' option would certainly help us. Even if it's huge. Edit: is that exactly what one of TFA describes as an option?

I've had df -h write out to the motd before for clients who insisted on tiny slices of disk, no automated monitoring and no manual checking of disk space even after it chewed itself up. I'm not sure it helped, but it made me feel better.

I think the general contention is that the process you describe is just using someone who's going to write sensible HTML not SEO. The shady side of actually modifying code not for easy-to-read, browser-efficiency, etc. is SEO.

I know of some fairly sizeable clients who are looking at gitlab because they need a github they can modify - github enterprise doesn't include source code does it?

And if you want a reasonable back end developer then, well, even 450 is low end for a Java developer where I am a couple of hours outside London.
