I've played a bit with Kotlin and have a much better knowledge of Scala, so I could be biased. I like Kotlin, it looks like Java should look like. Kotlin is "just" a better language and not a complete new World like Scala. In

I'd like to read some reports about selling via the Atlassian Marketplace in general. It is clear, that the actual selling heavily depends on the concrete product, but if it is like in the Mac App Store, I would no longer wonder if it

I have the feeling that the "Java sucks" outcries are not so loud anymore. Java improved significantly over the last few years, the frameworks are better and more lightweight these days (compare Java EE 7 with J2EE ...). And Java

I agree with you. 1. everybody already calls the DB Postgres, and 2. there are some additions to classic SQL, which makes the "SQL" somewhat curious.

I think that kind of analysis wouldn't be possible with Go ( http://golang.org/ ), since it is very strict/limited and uniform.

I wonder why they didn't move the main code repo to GitHub as well. https://go.googlesource.com/ is somewhat poor compared to GitHub.

Keep calm. This is not a relevant benchmark for real world scenarios.

I'd say that this "benchmark" is senseless. Ruby is for sure generally not faster than Java, and C is not about 18 times faster than Go. So no reason to pat any language on the shoulder.

What is the goal of Paul Philips? He is obviously frustrated by his experiences at Typesafe, but what does he really want? Show us that he can do better? Create an alternative Scala? This seems not be realistic and he seems to be realistic

I'm worried about this fork. Scala is far away from being a wildly used industry language. Yes, there are some well known companies using Scala, but how many of them develop a really big part of their software with Scala? Not so much.

This looks much better, although not as simple as mocking in Java with an advanced mocking tool like JMockit. It could be hard to avoid accidental integration tests with this approach.

I find the mocking/stubbing in Go awkward. You have to implement all mocked methods, and if you want to record certain calls, you have a lot more code to write. Let's translate the example to Java: public interface Job { i

I've spend some time with Go, but never felt overly productive with it. As someone else in this discussion mentioned a simple language doesn't mean that solutions in this language are simple! Look at what real problems you have to

I've the same feelings about Go. After working several month on a side project with Go, I have given up, because I've felt not as productive as with Java (not to mention Scala). There are lots of annoying things: missing generics
