It’s a language model. The spoken and written language we use mixes code and data and requires judgement, experience and intelligence. It’s insanity. We’re fucked.

This is the methodology I use. No determinism, no separation of data and instructions, centrally controlled. What couldn’t go wrong?

That is my fear. Or get distracted on some ancillary product that takes resources away from FF development. Just keep making a browser that isn’t shit. That’s your only job!

I wouldn’t use any cloud stuff for any Microsoft document formats. Copy it in after you’ve done the work at most.

An elderly family member rearranged her family tree into folders that were so deep it broke onedrive entirely. Of course it was not set to keep all files on the PC so it just trashed them. Be careful. I turned onedrive off and removed it. T

Don’t put your data in onedrive at all. We’ve experienced multiple cases of data loss which were definitely either implementation bugs or files simply being unreadable or lost.

Not OP but my daughter and ex wife haven’t worked out the name I picked for my daughter was from an ST:TNG character. They’d kill me.

One of the reasons my account is so young is that I went through each of those on HN and decided fuck it and nuked my credentials so I don’t have to stare at it. There again now.

Yeah when laptops are shipping 8Gb and Microsoft is suddenly interested in native apps, nope. Tech companies have strangled their own market.

Apple UI is dire for keyboard. Never been able to drive it. Windows is regressing as well. Some of the modern UI stuff is impossible. Think it was good around windows 7 era and that was it.

I am against it simply because it corrupts reason. Humans are trained for easy wins, not thinking about long term consequences and assuming risks will not play out. It's the lethal trifecta of emboldening our worst characteristics. Not

Yes it would still. Which is why I think the process is misguided. I mean look at Hungary which was a near miss. It needs to be resilient to state failure as well. This means that the entire idea of a corporate EU spanning hyperscaler shoul

I'm in the UK. My partner is German. I spend a lot of time in the EU. It's really the "this is fine dog" realising that it's not fine and apathy and poor governmental and corporate decisions over the last 30 years h

That's enough to do useful work. AI training is useless if you don't have something that'll do office work and supply chain logistics.

Based on the Iran war situation I don't think we should be building more datacentres for security. They are easy targets. We should be concentrating on resilience and that means distributing capacity and capability where possible.
