Nothing is safe. The platforms can atleast do a better job to provide feedback or display on the UI, whether the current environment is safe, for monetary txns etc. Secureboot [0] creates trust between hardware and software, but here you h

How do you detect whether a device is Jailbroken/rooted ? [Edit] : Found this - https://github.com/scottyab/rootbeer I think this will be useful for applications that want to know if the execution environment is s

I just started learning Citus, it is a very promising product. Couple of things for improvement / may be already supported. 1. New User records do not propagate to all the nodes - Manual Step. 2. New Database records do not propagate t

I feel this async computational burden has been passed on to the developers without any abstraction, making the life of the foundational platform developers easier. IMO, platform IO libraries should support async behavior natively. Joe Arms

Interesting to see IBM has also open sourced its JVM infrastructure as Eclipse OMR [0]. Which provides a JIT infrastructure to any existing runtime. [0] http://www.eclipse.org/omr/

Totally agree. My point was Autophagy, sort of provides the scientific foundation for benefits of fasting.

I had the Hindu philosophy of fasting [0] in mind. [0] http://www.yogamag.net/archives/1981/emay81/hindu.shtml

That is correct Linux treats Process & threads as identical tasks. I was thinking about control/data location. We had this three tier achitecturr, which is becoming 2-tier. I am seeing more control co-located with data for more opt

Has someone played with threading model within Postgres. I was reading the documents, looks like for every client request Postgres forks a new Process and uses shared memory model. Using multi-processor threads/coroutines might be usef

That is one possible solution. But, for queries we will need some kind of JOIN at runtime. I do store the entity data separately in a transactional row store. For analytical queries, we use a column store. For this, I have to include the en

I am using a time-series db where each metric measurement requires some static context information to be included, e.g. Event 1 happened in Device A at Node B, Location C. These static entities (A, B, C) are perfect for graph vertices. But,

Thanks. The plan looks promising. Just checked - stride.io , is it pipelineDB admin / user front end as a service ? I am assuming there is a lot more going on behind the scenes ? Can you talk about the architecture.

From my understanding, PipelineDB is a fork not an extension for PG. I liked what CitusData did - You download PG and add Citus Extension.

I have been reading about Postgres architecture. The modular design enables - microkernel-like API where different languages can be integrated seamlessly. The only thing, I am missing are incremental materialized views.

I was also on this bandwagon. Its about pythonic syntax not semantics that drives this. If only Mike Pall created a transpiler infrastructure layer on top of LuaJIT.
