There is only one Biosafety level 4 laboratory in China, and it opened... last year in... Wuhan. I am not saying there is a link, but I would not dismiss it too fast.

I am impressed at the number of people reacting with « Euler angles are fine » or « quaternions are fine, we always did this way ». Having worked extensively with them it is obvious that Euler angles are broken beyound repair (singularities

We don't use zero installs at the moment though. The deps are not checked in in the repo. This is why we get 90s installs instead of... 0s installs!

Congrats to @arcatek for this! The key value proposition of yarn for us is: - 15x installation speed, from 1400s with NPM to 90s with yarn PnP (Yes the gap is that big!) - Catching a lot of badly declared dependencies that NPM would silentl

Accuracy is relative to the need. By accurate I mean accurate enough that we can extract actionable information from it. For power plant critical structures we want 0.5mm, updated every 6months. For forest management we want 5m, updated eve

While this is true about user data, this is definitely not true in the context of real physical world data. Getting a picture from the tip of a wind turbine blade is done with a drone in the best case, or a rope access technician in the wor

Google has 3D models of cities nowadays. 20years ago we only had 2D maps. Why do you think this trend will not continue?

My startup is using AI in many forms in order to build an accurate digital twin of the world cheaply, and extract valuable insights from it. In a few years we will have an accurate digital twin of the world, almost indistinguishable from th

You tell react what you want your scene graph to look like in the end. You don’t have to write down how to update. Which removes a whole class of bugs AND simplifies code A LOT

React is not procedural. React is declarative. React is a way to turn imperative APIs into declarative APIs that are much easier to reason about. So yes, this is a big deal in my opinion.

In this post Paul Henschel is actually saying how impressed he is with the work of the react team. Paul’s work here (react three fiber) is actually a very thin layer on top of react. Which is impressive in itself. In 3 files he was able to

Because the Big O notation as used by engineers is actually about practical problems and not asymptotical behavior. So integers count as constant memory AND can be considered to be arbitrarily large for the purpose of the current problem. B

I agree that upgrading versions in react native is not as simple as increment it a number in package.json. My advice to you in your case would be find the versions that work and then stick to them. Only update when needed and treat migratio

This is amazing! It might be a personal feeling, but my opinion is that Facebook is SO much better than Google at delivering open source libraries that people want, and support them in the best way. React vs Angular, Pytorch vs Tensorflow.
