What control does the west have over their tools? They write the software themselves. They make the devices themselves. The West has 0 leverage.

Seattle's tech market isn't super diverse. It's Amazon and Microsoft dominated with less of the startup VC culture that SF has. So you see 95% of those salaries are just MS/AMZ

I use an original Google pixel and a cheap $20 keyboard and have done some basic scripting etc on it. Main problem is tmux doesn't work well on it. Otherwise vim is pretty great, for example. It's actually even pretty usable witho

It is, but they could continue to do it. Losing 14M a year on a market could be a problem eventually. Especially if the fines increase with recurring issues.

The $5 Stanley snips I bought later have no problem. It was just me getting ripped off.

Guitar wire should be perfectly fine to cut with $10 snips. The $5 Stanley brand snips that I got to replace my terrible ones work like a charm. I recognize I don't have the heaviest duty cut-through-anything shears that I could have w

$10 snips should be better than that! I replaced them with $5 Stanley wire cutters that had 0 issue dealing with guitar strings. So what happened is I was given a 10c piece of junk and paid $10 for the privilege of being ripped off.

$10 is not inexpensive for wire snips though. Which is my complaint.

Newegg is fine as long as you never have to return anything you've purchased. Which means it's not fine for Electronics. Their returns policy seems to be assuming that everyone attempting a return is malicious and trying to cheat

Seems like the video talked about wanting to make it into an internet communication network, which just doesn't seam feasible to me. Then again, I'm just a programmer. I recognize I have no grasp of the power requirements for that

I purchased some wire cutters a year or two ago from Amazon and they were fine for the speaker wire I was cutting... Until this year when I tried to cut a guitar string with them and found a perfect guitar gauged hole in my snips every time

I have to wonder what the maximum translational velocity would be for these hovering platforms. How well could they deal with high winds? Gusts? How quickly could they change their position? To make a comms network you'd need them rela

It's sanding down a barrier to entry that was already fairly low, in my opinion. They haven't really made it much lower either. Integrating RES into the main site would've been most of what they needed to get going...

You'd expect a site dedicated to software engineers to have a better grasp on how a bell curve works. Even the median Joe in this case is relatively similar to most other Joe's because 2/3 of the population is within 1 standa

Discord isn't really a Slack competing product as much as it's a Teamspeak and Mumble competing product... or at least at the start. Initially it was just easy to use VOIP with rich text chat channels. Now they've added in vi

Part of why the overhead doesn't matter here is because bitcoin wouldn't be used: It'd be some other crypto, like BAT (which is what Brave uses). The goal would be to make this a ubiquitous system (which is what Brave is tryi

While you're correct do note that not everyone can handle or wants to go through the pain of training a shelter dog. A dog you've raised from 8 weeks old is very different than a dog someone else has already abused and abandoned.
