If one is drunk, driving a car increases your chances of dying. Having a fast car will increase those chances too. :)

Interesting example here, in Romania, where a very small but vocal minority (atheists and agnostics, 0.2% of the population) have a constant political fight against public funding of religious cults (18 officially recognised), that is the ~

Misunderstanding. I believe we have enough reasons to think that ancient/medieval folks were smart enough to NOT believe gods live on the Moon.

I don't think we can honestly say there is something really serious coming out of Romania (with few exceptions) as long as our overall culture still lags behind. Entrepreneurial culture is built on the general state of culture, the jui

Replace conservatives with women or afro-american and see if the answer still sounds legit. I think you're oversimplifying. Academia is still a social environment and social pressure still exists. I don't think it's fair to s

Reading this article I had the same feeling I had when I was a physics student in math classes: Why the haskel do I need this? Like every time some abstract math concepts were introduced with no connection to reality whatsoever.

As a total noob, I'd say climate is a pretty complex problem to cheer at this as a 'good news'. Yes, there may be highly exaggerated attitudes on both sides, but scientific problems should addressed with data and verified sci

Just yesterday I was looking for a solution to mix HTML, *Script and CSS preprocessors in one single file. So happy I found this project! There's hope.

The first thought that came into mind when reading the article was: "We write bad code, the language is to blame". If all your variables are named "i", than yes, you have issues. If your code goes deeper and deeper in ca

Funny fact, any commercial for a drug, here in Romania, is ending with a very fast auction-style warning that last less than 5 seconds. In US you have like 5 minutes of country music and elder people having a picknic while all the possible

A friend of mine said that placebo is very effective in Romania (our country) too. I may mistake it, but she said that it can reach something like 70-80%. Maybe it's a developing countries problem. :)

It's a good start, but the solution is based on the default behavior of HTML/CSS, that is to position text in the middle of the leading. Text should sit on the baseline. There's a sass library that solves this problem nicel

I, too, felt the dismisal and the return to mere experience was superficial. Experience would not be possible without an ontological grounding. Just because you ignore it, does not make anything better. You feel better about yourself? Cool,

Skepticism is important (especially to religious believers), but it doesn't give you a clue about the right path in life. Anger, the strongest asset of Dawkins et al., will not help you or me in any way. Ever.

I think the problem of proving the (non) existence of something is as simple as understanding that (most of the time) it can not be deductive. I'd say that when it comes to existence, it is always inductive. What kind of proof can anyo
