I don't know why you are getting downvoted, you are absolutely correct: https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2024/09/1...

I don't disagree, but in this context I don't think those are the same parents that are yeeting their kids off to board at university as soon as they are of age.

AM is short for Amplitude Modulation, and by definition needs a carrier wave. This is more like controlled interference, still impressive though.

8GB RAM, no apparent upgrade option. Regardless, these will be insanely popular. Apple has finally made a play for the budget laptop market.

Everybody wants a manager that has engineering experience, but nobody wants to be that manager.

Maybe I should have qualified it with "successfully" span generations. I think most of the examples you give could be better explained as Member Berries, but I agree with the sentiment. I just don't think kids are as interest

Unsurprisingly, only one of my kids has shown any interest in Star Wars, and it is not in any of the new IP.

It is one of the few franchises that spans generations. My kids enjoy it, just as my wife and I enjoyed it before them. We have fun playing the games together. I imagine my parents felt the same way with Star Wars.

I really miss this era. Everything was straight and to the point by design, no processor cycles or memory were (or even could be) wasted. Less layers of abstraction, the entire stack from physics to application could be understood by a sing

You joke but I think there is value in ripping all tech out except for a computer lab where kids can learn something productive like programming, graphic design, etc. Tech is ubiquitous now, there is no reason to need exposure to it in scho

I guess it could mean that… but in this context it means decline, same as “Fall of the Roman Empire”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fall_of_the_Western_Roman_Empi...

I don’t doubt that, it’s just crazy for me to think that less than 100 years ago they were six times the size of the Roman Empire, and the dominant superpower on earth.

Been reading a lot of novels set during the golden years of the British Empire. It is both amazing and terrifying how far a country can fall in less than a century… which for some lucky people is a single lifetime.

What a legend. The Dreamcast in particular was a work of art too ahead of its time to be fully appreciated. It was the first console with support for broadband, way back in 2000. For context, AOL dialup peaked around this time. Spec-wise, i

Interesting, even with Yaxi pads I could not get the Porta Pros to my liking. Compared to the average IEM I thought the IEMs sounded much cleaner and more technically accurate. Stepping up to something like Letshuoer S12s absolutely blew th

The agenda is to highlight when Trump and Elon blunder but ignore neutral or positive stories. Go to the front page right now and look at the articles, I see four mentioning Trump that are negatively charged. That isn't to say any one

I disagree. Agendas are real things. Just because they have one, doesn't mean it is inherently bad or even a disagreeable position... but some people just don't like to be "sold to", regardless of the topic.
