You're not going to be much of an entrepreneur if you're afraid of disagreeing with your investors every now and then.

What would -2000 get you if you used it in YC's application form?

They'd be better off asking: you much have you done, how many more weeks until you can release a prototype, etc.

Why do people measure LOC? Because they're trying to measure the productivity of programmers. Why are they doing that? Largely to decide how to reward them. Yes. But if I'm an IT manager at a large company, the answer to that question is

Not surprising... the benefit of getting accepted is getting face time for advice and networking with potential investors at their dinners, etc., not the funding. If they said yes to that, there'd be no need to apply, we'll all just show up

Are you asking if YC charges potential investors to attend their demo days? Interesting if they did... part of YC's function is to introduce follow-on investors to their startups, but I've never thought about their charging investors for

Since you're good at math and know something about finance, why not just get a job at a hedge fund? You'll get rich, and you won't get heckled by a bunch of startup founders.

This is really a non-issue. From the user perspective, you must make that redirect, because they just want the feed, not some long-winded explanation about Feedburner. If you're worried about security, limit yourself to just one redirect,

That is entirely the wrong way to respond: you will get a lot of that (from VCs, prospective clients, etc.) and dealing with it like that is guaranteed to lead you to failure, simply because everyone will come to see you (rightly or wrong

Well, if you want to impress people with your startup prowess, you're better off succeeding in that context before bragging about it. I have no opinion of you or your entrepreneurial abilities in the same way a physicist has no opinion of

Unless they're really generating tons of revenue, going public might be a rough road. Sure the founders and investors get to cash out, but Wall Street checks in every three months, and can be unforgiving if you fail to meet expectations. Re

Great point about since VCs don't give you an outright "no", you should take that opportunity to go back to them with a revised idea. Too many people (me included) tend to never go back.

Huh? That makes little sense. If you're experienced enough to avoid a mistake, you have learned that lesson, and that's why you don't repeat it.

Most Facebook users are students, so how can you expect them to shell out cash for products or services? If Facebook ads don't result in more sales, advertisers will give up on Facebook eventually.

Kawasaki gets to be stupid for more than 15 minutes. I hope he's enjoying making a fool out of himself while mocking everyone who's working on web companies. It's an act that's going to wear thin, fast.

Not sure how this information is useful: the mom-and-pop businesses like the pizza place and copy shop look like they're deliberately understating their profit (perhaps to avoid the IRS?), and the finance types make a lot of money. It's nei

That is bad advice on so many levels. It's the equivalent of getting punched in the mouth and then thanking the guy who hit you! Also, if he really was tossed out unfairly, his buying stock ruins whatever legal case he might have.
