True. Which means that with "just" $1mil, he's going to have to manage his money a bit more than if he had tens of millions. (maybe there should be a "thank linus" day sometime)

At first glance I thought the headline said, "Silicon Valley's Hottest VC Is a Drug Dealer" Would have made for a nice twist.

You make it sound like such an onerous task to manage tens of millions of dollars. Sure he might feel the need to spend some time on it - but he might just as likely leave it to an investment manager or put it in an index fund. Or even inve

That's a great principle to have. Less annoying things make life better - although I have no doubt it can take a lot of effort to eliminate annoyances (especially when you have to build a lot of intelligence into the system). We try to do t

Pretty darn interesting view in this article. "Hustle" is the magic factor, is what I got from it. Keep trying and asking for things (intelligently), and you'll eventually get some of them.

Comparison: This looks like an automated desktop version of MediaFire/MegaUpload/YouSendIt, since right now it works by downloading from an intermediary (I assume, from what tashmahalic said: "You run it, it downloads your files"). It has a

This is great work - thank you for sharing it with the world. There was also this guy who was building a HTML5 live canvas app based on Bret's demo, which looks to be quite handy (if it's released): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBUC-7D1L

Cool stuff. I was a bit confused by why the "if (worth < 1000000)" condition line wasn't highlighted for each iteration (though it clearly was executed). Is that a little bug or am I misunderstanding the presentation? Did you watch Bret

True. That's why I've started using a variant of Autofocus[1] (a task system, much simpler than GTD) and am intending to try Pomodoro. Ultimately when you see the various things you need to do on a list, your intuitive mind automatically pr

Great idea and neat execution. If the site provided even more politicians' stances, it would be useful for state elections too. Another thing to potentially offer would be the ability to weight each issue, like "I don't care about this at a

I think we do. Some of us, anyway. It's funny to think that 20-30 years ago, Stallman might not even have been allowed into the country. IIRC we used to turn away long-haired hippie types or take them aside for questioning.

"What the Mac realized is that there are a set of things that all software has to do, so why shouldn't they all do them the same way?" Indeed - but I'd venture that the standard behavior for most web elements is already well-established.

This is the prototypical Whartonite Seeks Code Monkey scenario, except without the Whartonite. Also, good points made in merlin's post on that thread.
