But it's not why I stopped writing C programs. It's just a bug and I create and fix a dozen bugs every day. Security is the only argument for memory safety that moves mountains.

Memory safety is a big deal because many of the CVEs against C programs are memory safety bugs. Thread safety is not a major source of CVEs against Go programs. It’s a nice theoretical argument but doesn’t hold up in practice.

We are in a strange world today because our MTU was decided for 10mbps ethernet (MTU/bandwidth on a hub controls latency). The world is strange because 10mbps is still common for end-user network connections, while 10gbps is common for

Containers do seem to work really well for agents. It lets them run in parallel! Giving them sudo also lets them do interesting things you wouldn’t want them doing on your desktop, eg. installing tools or debugging with tcpdump. (I am worki

We have been having good luck writing Go with an agent. Sketch is mostly written with itself. (There is special Go handling built into the agent, e.g. automatically running gofmt/goimports after files change.) https://github

This is a good strategy we (sketch.dev) experimented with a bit, but in the end we went with containers because it gives the LLM more freedom to, e.g. `apt-get install jq` and other tools.

I'm curious about your experiences with Gemini Pro 2.5 tool calling. I have tried using it in agent loops (in fact, sketch has some rudimentary support I added), and compared with the Anthropic models I have had to actively reprompt Ge

Your concern about Meta's license is fair, I have no useful opinion on that. I certainly wish they would use a freer license, though I am loath to look a gift horse in the mouth. My concern in this thread is people rejecting the concep

It's not just a marketing label. The term is not being hijacked. Open source models, open source weights, the license chosen, these are all exetrmely valuable concepts. The thing you want, open source model data pipelines, is a differe

It's not the same as slapping an open source license on a binary, because unencumbered weights are so much more generally useful than your typical program binary. Weights are fine-tunable and embeddable into a wide range of software. T
