You misunderstand the question posed: who has more power? For instance, all entrepreneurs need customers, but not all customers need entrepreneurs. So, customers have more power to change the world? Of course not.

My goodness, a VC has never, not once, changed the world. Unless they were an entrepreneur first.

Glad you're excited! I moved to Seattle almost exactly 3 years ago to work at Microsoft and was always mystified why I had to go somewhere else (DC, Portland, Scottsdale, the list goes on) to attend an awesome JS conference. That sense of "

Good question. Topics will run the gamut of applications of JS (browser, Node.js, Windows 8, etc). We used GitHub to post a public call-for-speakers. Prospective speakers were asked to fork the repo, add their proposal and submit a pull re

I'm not sure I'm a badass, but I think it's hard for many developers to subject their code to public scrutiny, especially when it's with a language that's outside of their wheelhouse. I wrote this app to teach myself Node.js, CouchDB, Socke

Good question. Incoming votes get added to an in-memory array, which is then periodically flushed to the DB. During the flush, incoming votes are queued-up and aren't processed until the flush to the DB is complete.

At best this was always going to be a companion app, since almost all fantasy football leagues (ESPN, NFL, Yahoo) have online draft tools. I wish that kind of data was exposed via a real-time API, let's hope someone from the Yahoo API te

Yes, it's essentially an app that creates online conference calls. I would have liked to ship some more features (list of participants, chatting, etc) but didn't have time. This app also showcases two early versions of NPM modules for Twil

This is kind of an odd topic for a SXSW panel, but I'd like to see what HN think of it. The premise is that event-driven programming is a radically new and powerful paradigm for developers and is more clearly manifested by the popularity of

Saying "it's all bits" is too simplistic a view of file formats vs. APIs. I'm thrilled that MP3 files have ID3 tags, unfortunately that's an unacceptably small subset of the meta-data that I care about. File formats evolve at a glacial pac
